Great start for Sir John at the Curragh
You'd have to be delighted with that. I was afraid he might be a bit babyish but he got a lovely lead and loves the fast ground. What can I say . he is by Henry out of Peeping Fawn . all I can do is destroy him after that!. He'll have learned plenty from that. Whether Royal Ascot would come too quick I'm not sure.
Paddy deserves his big day
He only goes through the motions. I was off the bridle at the top of the hill but I hadn't really gone for him and I knew he's very genuine and you could see that up the straight. I sat handy enough but he hits a flat spot now and again in his races. He did that again today but I knew once I got him out and got a few 'tares' into him he'd pick up. He done exactly that. He stuck at it well and he loved the fast ground. He stays well and he's very honest. He's a model of consistency and he deserved that. I thought he might be a bit vulnerable as he's got 5Ibs this year for not winning. We left him very fresh for this. Shane gave him a great ride. He got a nice position and it opened up for him in the straight. He was very strong on him. I'm going to mix it with him . he'll probably come back here Derby weekend and we'll keep him fresh for that. Paul (McMahon, the winning owner) has been a great supporter of the yard and he deserved a big day.
Light continues on the up
He's a lazy horse. He doesn't mind going along in front and there's always plenty there when you want it. He has plenty of pace and he's able to get a position. He's a very straight-forward Montjeu . he can get a position early, travel along and he can be tough at the end. He's lazy that's why he wears the cheek-pieces. It helps him from being too lazy early on.
Doyle impresses as Al shocks Camelot
He's been a slow maturing horse. Last year he came home with a stress fracture of his pelvis in the Jockey Club Stakes. He's work has been really impressive and James said the ground was bit lively for him there. He's a good horse and he rode him confidently. The plan was to drop in behind Camelot and he rode a good race. We can look at all the top races over a mile and a quarter and we also know he stays a mile and a half very well. I'd like to think maybe the Arc at the end of the season. Ascot is an obvious possibility . we've also got the Eclipse . there's lots of lovely races there for him.
Judge atones for Newmarket in Guineas
It feels pretty good. It's more relief at the moment but I'm sure I'll wake up in the middle of the night thinking it's great. He never really had to pick the stick up to her and he gave her a beautiful ride. He was in the right position and produced her at the right time. It was a big decision to come here and I'm glad we did. He'll (his father Barry) be watching on tv and I'm sure he'll have a tear in his eye. They (Qatar Racing) have been fantastic over the last few years. They are great supporters of the sport worldwide. It's great to see them get this success. As long as she's okay she'll go for the Coronation . it's 26 days away so that's perfect timing.
Doubles all round Via in-foal Ballycroy
She's a lovely filly and she loves that fast ground. She's trained on well (hadn't run since early November). She's in foal to Cape Cross so we'll try and get a bit of black-type for her. He did well to get out from where he was. She might also come back here for the Scurry . we'll try and get a big pot with her.
