Karamaya makes winning debut
She did it alright. She is by Invincible Spirit and a lot of them win first time out. The ground is very testing but she did a great job. I thought she'd need the run. There are three Listed and Group races from seven furlongs to a mile here in September and October and she might go for one of those. She will need to improve a bit but she will improve a bit but she will if we ever get good ground in this Indian summer. Yesterday wasn't a good day (Sadler's Rock and Hartani both beaten) but today started well and there is always tomorrow!
Joe makes all for McNamara & Lyons
That is twelve winners for me on the flat, it's been a magnificent season and thanks have to go to Ger Lyons. He is a model of consistency for the yard. Seven furlongs is his trip but he wouldn't get seven furlongs on that ground. I'd go to Dundalk for seven furlong. It's great for his owners the two Joe's (the HB Partnership). They are from Clane so it's good to get a local winner.

Oliver & Hayes land another big pot
It is great when a plan comes to fruition. He did it well at Tipperary but he was still a green horse there. I was impressed with his attitude more than anything that day so that's why I supplemented him. I knew from Tipperary that he would handle the ground but he doesn't need it soft. I thought Mars and Dawn Approach would come out. This week this horse got new owners and I was keen to run him in this race. Thankfully they were good enough to indulge me. He got a great ride from Chris Hayes who is riding super. He settled him and produced him at the right time. The owners are Team Valor LLC and they are based in America and he will eventually end up over there. He will certainly get further and he is entered in the Beresford Stakes and the Racing Post Trophy. He is not in the National Stakes but everything is on the table.
Globetrotting Up records Group 3 win
She was in the US last week and got back on Monday. She is a hardy filly and got the trip well today. She has always promised to be nice but things just didn't work out for her. She'll run again in another fillies group race maybe the Matron Stakes.

Italian Marcialis scores aboard Star
I thought the ground was a problem. I thought the ground and Rayhani would beat him but that fellow ran well in fourth as well. I watched the race last year and thought I'd try to win it. He travelled well all along but was it a race, time will tell. He could go for a two mile handicap hurdle in Listowel or he might travel as he before. He is owned by the Holly's Buddies Syndicate from Dublin and he has won five times for them now. He has won at all the big tracks Cheltenham, Leopardstown, Galway and now the Curragh.
O'Brien has the midst touch on Battler
That horse deserved it. Joseph said he has another one in him as he dropped his whip a furlong out and he had to ride him out hands and heels. He is genuine and loves it here (third win here). He handles nice ground as well but when he handles ground like that you wouldn't be complaining about it. I thought he had too much weight as he is still really a 2yo.
