Rostropovich justifies market confidence
Gold bounces back from Listowel flop
She's as good as Gold! . Dylan is a big addition and rides her work too and I'm very happy with her. The draw in 12 didn't suit her at Listowel and she fought very well today. She's a good filly and I don't know where we'll run her next - I'll probably have a look on the way back to see what's coming up over the next couple of weeks.
In-form Day makes all in Gowran feature
We claimed him last year at Laytown for E5,000 and it took us a while to get the key to him but he has won four of his last five now and was also second. He knocked himself at Southwell and we gave him a break and is going great. I was hopeful coming today but was confident when he got his own way in front. He's tough and genuine and the key to him is to be in front. It was a good pot today and he'll go to Galway next.
Queluz follows-up on Cork success
I'll have to get him (Gary Halpin) to put on wing mirrors (after winning six and a half lengths)!. I took a chance running him but he was well and it paid off. He'll have a couple weeks holidays now, as I will, and we'll see what the handicapper does. He'll be in the 0-70s now but if he can win another like that I won't complain. I haven't looked too far down the road but there's a race for him on the Saturday of Galway next.
Double for O'Brien as Steps wins easily
He should have won the last day (at Cork) but didn't get it in the stewards' room and made amends today.
Double for Donnacha as Days lands gamble
He had been running consistently well up until the last day when he was disappointing at Navan but the trip and track suited him today and Donnacha gave him a great ride. He's a tough horse and we'll see what the handicapper does now as I hadn't thought further than today.
Wildcat takes the last for Lyons & Keane
He's a 100 rated horse that is stuck between a rock and a hard place but it was a nice race for him and he was the top rated horse. He wants quick ground and we were a bit worried as it was a bit patchy and was good ground in the straight and good ground is a bit dead for him. Colin gave him a great ride and knows he doesn't go for the stick so didn't resort to it and had the confidence not to use it even in a tight finish. The horse answered his call without the stick. He'll find it hard now as he needs fast ground but is Listed class over 1m 2f but we'll look for those type of races. That was a bonus after a frustrating week.
