Pinkerton makes it two from two on hurdling debut
He didn't get sold to anybody and is my own as he got held up and went lame behind. I don't know what he did and we sent him everywhere and nobody could find what was wrong. I left him off for nearly a year and he came sound and that's now two runs and two wins,. He has been doing things right at home and we were pretty sweet on him. He probably wants further and had the option of going to Gowran (on Thursday) but I was concerned the ground could become awful sticky. He is a nice horse and is going the right way. We'll aim for the Final as we have to get a few quid back somewhere!
Albert Bartlett next for unbeaten Colombe
He won in spite of the track and we were very worried about running him but there is a lack of races,. I didn't think he had enough experience to go for a Grade 1 (at the Dublin Racing Festival) and Clonmel could have been a real slog. Jack said it was safe but as good as he wanted it. Jack was happy and said he was doing what he needed to do and he was the same in his bumpers. He half-came off it with a circuit to go but with a slap down the shoulder he goes again. I thought it was a good performance. He'll go straight to Cheltenham, probably for the Albert Bartlett as he wants the maximum trip.
Brigade swoops to land third hurdles win
The better ground probably helped and he gave him a chance today as we were probably riding him a bit close. He came with the one run and gave him a beautiful ride - he won't be claiming 5lb for too long more,. There could still be another handicap in him although he still has a long way to go to be as good as his siblings (five winners, including Grade 1 winner Colreevy). Patricia (McCarthy), the winning owner, is my sister.
Ballyshannon battles to take Grade 2 thriller
Allaho dominant in Thurles repeat
It took a good while for him to get warmed up and he was sticky over the first few fences, where I thought he might have needed some company. He didn't jump really well until the fourth or fifth fence but flew the last and Paul said he was flying at the finish,. He is a big horse - we've had some huge horses over the years Douvan, Monkfish and him. Some of those big horses can't adjust at fences but he can and danced in front of a couple of fences and does it very easily. If he's not right, he isn't afraid of taking a few quick steps to get out over them. We were very happy with him at home and that is it until the Ryanair - more than likely that is the race for him.
D'alene digs deep to secure follow up win
Winged Leads them home in hunters
He was very good beforehand and I was very happy coming here and I thought he had improved a lot from last year,. We have deliberately campaigned him fresh this year because we'll aim for some of the bigger targets in the spring. He'll get a Cheltenham entry, as will Vaucelet, although I've always thought he'd be a fair horse for Aintree. The rain is bound to come and Naas can get very heavy so it might be too close to Cheltenham. One week changes a lot in a horse's life but at this moment I'm very happy to give him a Cheltenham entry.
