Sweet win for Chocolate in Curragh opener
Colm said if he had been beaten it would have been his fault. She wanted to go but he just got checked and then came around. He said she was strong at the end so he's delighted with her. She has plenty of pace so we'll keep her at that, up to six furlongs, and we'll see where we go with her. She's in the Moyglare and she's in the Lowther as well. She has a few entries and might easily go for the Lowther.
Mulvany claims first nursery again with Silver
We're delighted with her that she won it. The last couple of times they've been telling me that she wanted six,. It's the first nursery of the year and we kind of have a habit of winning it, we won it a couple of times before, so the handicapper will be getting on to me. She'll probably got to Galway on the Saturday for the nursery over seven. It's a handy seven there and it's not as tough as somewhere else. We'll try that and see how we get on. She's a good hardy filly, very much like her sire a good hardy type. She's a very quiet individual and it's great to have her. The Tough As Nails progeny handle all types of ground but I actually think she is better with a bit of cut in the ground. All of them seem to be able to handle good ground. He was by Dark Angel and they can handle most ground.
Grey takes gold in the Sapphire
Terzetto times it well to land nice pot
It's never ideal (running the two against each other) but these valuable races only come up now and again,. Surrounding won it last year for us and Terzetto had a very good run here on Guineas weekend. There is probably more improvement in her being a three-year-old. I had intended going to Ascot with her for the Sandringham Handicap but that didn't work out as she came in season that week so we didn't get there and had to wait for this. When Colm changed his hands the reins wen missing and by the time he gathered her up again she ran on gamely. I think the best horse won. You'd be entitled to think that she could take her chance in a Listed race now so we probably will. Surrounding's owner isn't that keen on her acting around Galway as she tends to like more galloping tracks. She's been a great servant to us and it's great to put the last disappointing run behind us when we didn't put the saddle on too well!
Moore & O'Brien double-up with Cliffs
He stays well obviously. Ryan felt there was plenty in there. He said from the two he thought he was going to win,. He had a few little setbacks, nothing major, and he's a big horse so maybe was a little weak. He's a brother to a horse we had Triplicate, he's a well-bred horse. Those staying type races will be what we're looking at and he could develop into a cup horse. Anything from mile-and-a-half to two miles is probably for him.
Well-bred Bloom makes the breakthrough
She kept us waiting a little while and I think I may have been too easy on her,. After last Thursday you would think the Gowran run was very good (Curly finished 4th in Meld Stakes) and the second there had good form. We'll probably look for black-type now and she could go further. We were anxious to get that out of the way first and it was nice to win at a mile with her.
