Dumbarton settles into hurdling
Change of going suits Dushrembrandt
He's a half brother to Sir Rembrandt [second to Best Mate in Cheltenham Gold Cup 2004]. We bought him as a raw three-year-old and he has done well in point-to-points. The change in ground today brought out the best in him. He loves these good ground conditions [hurdle track now yielding, good in places]. We might come back here in a few weeks time. There's a three mile novice hurdle in December and we'll see what else is coming up.
The Boat People hangs on at Cork
Pires has his day at Cork
I was always hoping there would be a day like that in him. He probably should have won a Cambridgeshire in England. The flat track in Cork suited him as he's not really a two miler. Paul Townend was excellent on him and got him jumping super. He's owned by a great woman Lily Lawlor who is a good friend and very loyal.
The Dice rolls in favour of Moon
He's had a few falls but has jumped well at home. He was a bit slow at the last but he'll improve and just needs to get some confidence. He could go to England for a small chase somewhere. He did throw some fine jumps today, and he'll be alright in time.
King Of Queens retains his ability
He has been working well, but his flat run did put me off a bit. Maybe it was the hurdles that changed his mind, although maybe it was an ordinary race. We'll see what the handicapper does, but more than likely he'll go back on the flat before the end of the season.
Elegant Statesman lords it at Cork
I think he's a nice horse. He ran twice in point-to-points in heavy ground and after the second run we nearly lost him as he was so sick. That's why he was off for so long. He's a good jumper and he has a bit of pace.
