Thyestes winner lands Ten Up Chase
Jack (Kennedy) said he's better in a big field, with horses around him, where something can keep him travelling. I'd imagine we'll keep him at home and he might go for the Irish National.
Immovable Morgan wins without stirrups
I didn't really think about pulling up because I felt comfortable; he's a safe old jumper so I was happy enough to keep going. . Going up the hill I thought they had got away from me a bit and I just gave him a chance. He's a horse that doesn't like hitting the front too soon so it worked out ideal. Going to the third last I felt I had them covered. It was great - it was something new anyway! It's my first ride for Denis so it's very important to get a win.
Atlantic Fairy wins inaugural Apple's Jade Hurdle
I'm delighted with that and she's a lovely mare. She got hurt last year and we had to leave her off but she's come back really well and is doing it all well. I think she'll improve for the run as she hasn't run since Christmas. She should come on a bit from it. She has her ideas of what she wants to do (tactics-wise) and she's a lady you really don't need to tell what to do. She's in at Cheltenham but we'll see as there is also the mares novice hurdle at Fairyhouse which is only a couple of weeks after. That might be the more sensible route for her. I'm delighted to win the first running of the Apple's Jade Hurdle and delighted for owner Mark Phelan; I'll see what Mark thinks as it's a hobby and it depends what he would like to do.
Beacon lights up Navan as Tiger Roll disappoints
he (Beacon Edge) had a colic at Christmas, spent nearly a week in Kildare (veterinary clinic) and he was just wasn't himself in Naas last time, but he's a fair horse. I wondered about him getting the trip but he stays. He's a very nice horse. Michael (O'Leary, owner) had it in his head that he'd go to Liverpool for the two-and-a-half mile race but he's in the Stayers. We have Diol Ker as well and we'll see what turns up in it. He was meant to go over fences this year but when we thought about what was coming out over fences we thought we might be as well staying where we are. We got it right the way it looks at the minute anyway. That was a nice prize today and a nice race to win.
Elliott targets Cheltenham with Frontal Assault
he (Frontal Assault) was way too keen with the blinkers in Leopardstown. He'll be a grand big staying chaser. He really stayed well there. He'll get an entry in the Martin Pipe (Conditional Jockeys Hurdle at Cheltenham) and we'll see what happens. The likes of Punchestown might not be ideal for him if the ground gets too quick.
Bonus territory for 'extra big' Gibney winner
I'm delighted for his owners (WTF Partnership) and delighted for the horse. We really love him, he's extra big. I don't know where we'll go now, we'll just play it by ear. If size has anything to do with it he'll make a chaser. He jumps well and that's what he was bought for. We're in bonus territory until then.
Early Gains for professional jockey
it's great for Jordan as that's his first ride as a professional. He's coming to me now three days a week and he's a lad we're going to get plenty of use out of. He's a good rider. He (Fierami) looked like he was well handicapped. It was a bit sharp for him the last day he ran.
