Fun at Ballinrobe
McCarthy has to take a Second Glance
Second Glance deserved that. I don't know how many seconds she has had but the ground is the key (good to yielding) to her. Fair play to Charlie Swan (her previous trainer), he said to me that we'll have great fun with that mare and how right he was!. Last week at Roscommon I had a first and a second in a race there . you could only dream about that! We'll mix it (Flat & jump) with her and it's great to win at Ballinrobe.
Nolan gets the Gold
I don't know whether or not he improved from his win the last day - Gordon's horse (Elliott, Esporao) which he beat the last day was beaten since though. Hopefully he won't go up too much for that, he only won a neck, and is a horse who would ideally be suited by a more galloping track. We'll go for the Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel next.
Professional job by Nurse Ryan
I only have my trainers' license since April and that's my first winner - it's a real family operation with my brothers Paddy and Michael playing a big part.
New World order
It's great of Mr Smith to send Free World to us . I've known him for a long time and he had been intending to have a horse with us. Free World is back on track after exiting at the first at Tipperary and there is a nice programme of conditions' races here for him. He'll probably go to Listowel next and is a lovely, straightforward horse to train.
Stakers puts rivals to sword
Stakers has been a fairly disappointing horse and has had a few problems. He was quite keen at Roscommon and we decided to hold him up today. Mark said he picked up we'll though and hopefully he can pick up another one of those handicaps again now.
Nolan completes double
Ballinrobe is a grand place for a horse to get an introduction over fences and Gala Dancer also seems to be far sweeter since we put blinkers on. He's only quite a small horse so I wouldn't say he'd handle real heavy ground - I also find a lot of Milan bred horses prefer a bit of better ground.
