Toogoodtobetrue gets off the mark
You'd have to be delighted with that. She came forward lovely from her first run.
Intenser a welcome winner for Duke
Deserved Meld success for Parish Hall
I wasn't sure where the pace would come from, but he has a good turn of foot so I settled him and followed the pace. My instructions were to drop in, take my time and arrive late. He will stick to a mile and a quarter. He feels he is only really getting over his injury this year and hopefully he can go on to better things. He seemed to settle very well today. He hadn't decided the best race for him before today, the plan was to see could he get back on a winning note. He is very happy with him. He will have a look and see what there is for him now. He is quite ground dependent he doesn't want slow ground.
Moore gets Mango up on the line
Mills canters home on Hills
It's a bit of shock to the system as I'm used to tramping around in the mud at point-to-points. He's the only horse I've ever run on the Flat,. I suppose we'll have to have a look at the GPT (now Connacht Hotel QR Handicap) depending on what the handicapper does. There is also another race at Galway for him and hopefully we'll run there. He has an issue jumping hurdles with kissing spines which aggravates him so it was a last ditch thing to run on the Flat and it's working out. He's never run on ground as fast as that before as he's just never encountered it before but it was good safe ground with a print in it. She gave him a lovely ride and did exactly what she was told. You're always a bit concerned in these races as you never know what jockey you are getting . it's a bit pot luck.
Maximilian takes the Rockingham for Pitt
He would have won the Wokingham (at Royal Ascot). I had him in such good form but he missed the cut. I did the silly thing to run him in a Group Three afterwards. We were very worried about the ground here. It's not that he wants a cut its just that he lacks a little early on and if something gets a run on him he can't quite get them back. He doesn't get six furlongs but in a fast run five furlongs if he can keep tabs on them he is always going to pick them up. The only other runner I have had in Ireland was in the Goffs Million a few years ago and it finished stone last.
Odds-on Witches gets the job done
She was entitled to win. I was in two minds whether to work her after racing or run her but it's nice to get paid! . I don't know what she beat there but it was nice start. She is owned by a big breeding operation (Ballylinch Stud) and blacktype is the instruction so that's where will head now and see how we'll get on. I only have her back in two months, she is very sound and very straightforward. It's probably bad training that she hasn't won before now!
