Klute burns off rivals in Curragh opener
I'm delighted with him. We've always liked him but it was a very very smart maiden,. He's a smashing horse and Colm just said he was galloping along there in front, stayed on and did everything easily. It was very straight-forward. He stayed the seven well. Being by Kodiac I thought he mightn't stay but he's fairly stoutly bred on the dam's side. He probably could drop back to six. He's in the National Stakes. Other than that we'll just take it step by step. We'll see what happens.
Avenger holds on after tight finish and enquiry
I'm absolutely delighted. It's great to get my first Curragh winner and on Derby weekend it makes it a bit more special,. I'm delighted for Cathal (McGuckin). He's with us the last year-and-a-half and he's been a big supporter of mine. Myself and my father own half of him and Cathal rang me during the week and said was there any chance of switching him into his colours for the Curragh. We got all the paper-work done of Friday. He's been unlucky, I don't think he's been ungenuine. He got stuck four or five wide in Limerick the last day. The time before he got a little injury and he was very unlucky in Leopardstown where he was a fast finishing third. On ground like this we'll keep him going. He's in at Bellewstown on Wednesday so myself and Rory have a bit of a decision to make now because we have Dance Alone, him and Geological in it. If he doesn't go there he'll be out again quick enough as long as the ground stays quick. Hopefully we can get him on a bit of a run now. He's the type of horse that's handicapped to win two or three so fingers crossed he does. We're absolutely delighted and it's smiles all round.
Perfect lunges late to land Group 3 prize
I'm delighted with her. She had a lovely run in Ascot. She just got drawn a little bit out by herself at Ascot but that was lovely and she was able to get a little bit of cover today,. Ryan was delighted with her. He said she's not there yet and there is plenty more to come from her. She is a fine big strong filly. Ryan said going out that he wasn't going to get there too early. She might got to the Cherry Hinton as could Gossamer Wings. I think she'll stay further. She's a big strong filly and she'd have to be a bit weak still because she's so big. I think Joseph liked his filly and the second filly had a very good run with Sergei (Prokofiev). She's a Scat Daddy so I'd say she'd like fast ground.
Yucatan bounces back to form in International
He was just a bit slow away in Ascot he he never really got going. You'd be delighted with that,. We'll look for another Group 3 for him. He might get a mile-and-a-half. No doubt he likes a bit of nice ground as he's a very good mover. Ryan was happy with him, he just said he's very lazy. The blinkers seemed to help him there. In Ascot he had cheekpieces so I'd say the blinkers were probably a help to him.
O'Brien back in number one spot at Curragh
Wayne gave him a great ride. He ran very well here on Guineas weekend, when Donnacha was very happy with him, and he just had nowhere to go,. Then he didn't get in to the Britannia (at Royal Ascot). This was obviously a nice pot here on a good track. We actually thought he was a six furlong horse earlier in the year but he's actually better going seven or a mile and holding him up. He had to wait today, and he got a little nudge, but he didn't panic on him and got there lovely. Galway is a possible. We'll see what the handicapper does and go from there. He has plenty of pace and travels so he's a decent handicapper in fairness.
Fox too strong for Pretty Polly rivals
Flag flies high in Curragh Cup
Ryan thought that the trip was no problem for him and he said he handles an ease as well as fast ground,. He said he could be a Leger horse and could turn into a Melbourne Cup horse. Rekindling won that race last year. They are the possibilities. When we were doing the jockey bookings I didn't know which one to put Ryan on because Giuseppe has improved and improved and doesn't do much at home so it's hard to work him out. This horse would have run in a Derby if we had had him in it. It was good to find out that he gets this trip. Wayne's horse (Victory Salute - finished fourth) ran a lovely race and he'll progress on. He's only a maiden and was green.
