Vernet deservedly holds on in Curragh opener
She's a good hardy filly. She had a good run first time, over five-and-a-half, in a good maiden and we thought when she went seven she'd show some progress,. She had to be tough there today. It was very close, just a bob of the heads. It's great to win a maiden with her. We'll head for some black-type now. I thought she showed plenty of pace so I wouldn't be against coming back to six with her.
Order Of Australia keeps up the good work for Ballydoyle
He's a lovely horse, he has loads of speed, is tough, genuine and hardy,. He's out of that great mare. He ran a lovely race first time back at Ascot this year and the plan was to come here and go on to the Sussex with him. Obviously he's a Breeders Cup Mile winner so he has plenty of class. As he's getting older he's getting quicker and stronger. We're delighted with him. He was working very well going to Ascot but it was his first run so he had to tire a little bit and that's what he did do. Killian and Wayne have been over the moon with him at home. He's very straight forward to ride and very sound. The plan is to go to the Sussex and finish up at the Breeders Cup and he could go to Hong Kong and do all those races. He's at that great age now that he's seasoned, has experience, and he's quicker this year which is great. That'll be a big help in those big races.
Kerkiyra opens account on handicap debut
Ben said when she got to the front she kind of pricked her ears. Instead of going and winning she kind of parked herself a bit,. In fairness to her every time they came to her she battled on well. He said she hit the line well and he knew he'd won. She probably still learning, she has plenty of runs but you can see that she's still a bit starey and it takes a little bit of time for the penny to drop. I think we'll step her up in class now. I was looking for a mile-and-a-quarter maiden but this race stood out and fitted well. It's just great to get her head in front because we always thought a lot of her. She's been hitting the crossbar and when you see the horses that have been around her she deserved to win a race like this. Hopefully she can improve and step up.
Red Heel justifies Mulvany's confidence
She was sick earlier in the year after her first run. I thought she worked very well the other day and I was confident enough coming today that we were going to have a big run,. We'll probably go to the fillies Listed race in Galway. I can see the handicapper giving her a few pounds for that. She handles most ground, bar heavy. She seems to be better this year, she's more settled in herself. They gave her a handy lead and it was nice to get it.
Group 2s all round for Ballydoyle
We tried the last day to go up in trip but it was just too far,. We knew after the last day that her trip was between nine and twelve furlongs. This was a lovely race and she was very well. She's a very tough consistent filly but I'd say probably a mile-and-a-half is as far as she wants to go. She's very comfortable from nine to twelve. I'm delighted with her, she's a very well-bred filly. Ryan had her in a lovely position, they were ready to close her down but they couldn't get any more than half a length in front of her to close her down. When she hung in there for that half a furlong she got going again going to the line. She could go up into a good mile-and-a-quarter race now. That's a Group 2 today so she could step into any of those races from now on. She could be there for Arc weekend for the mile-and-a-quarter fillies race and she will get up to a mile-and-a-half. She's from the pedigree of Galileo so she has an unbelievable back pedigree. That was as tight distance wise as she wanted to go but she held in there.
Nusret gives Joseph O'Brien a Curragh double
He had been running consistently well and we've been learning about him,. The race set up lovely for him and Mikey gave him a lovely confident ride. We could look at one of those nice handicaps on Champions Weekend. There is a mile-and-five race in Leopardstown but he might be better in a handicap off his rating.
