Marinero scores on debut for De Bromhead
He jumped and he jumped well and David gave him a super ride. He's a lovely horse to have and we'll see how he comes out of that but he could possibly run in the 2m 6f beginners chase at Galway next. He seems good and I've been happy with him - in Aintree (April 2015) he looked like he was going to go close and he's a high class horse. I'm delighted to start like that with him.
Kent's Counsel claims third win
she won her bumper here but got a leg last year. She made a nice comeback there but didn’t like the ground and I thought she had no chance from a long way out but she came alive when switched to the better ground on the outside. I’ll jump a fence with her now if she’s ok - she has a bumper and two hurdles won now. She’s a good honest mare and would never leave you down - it’s hard to come by the likes of her.
Walsh & O'Brien on the mark with King Leon
He's a tough horse and probably wasn't as good a race as he ran in at Limerick the last day when he bumped into one. It's good to get him to win and it is a good pot to get. He can make the odd mistake but is good usually and it was probably no harm he did make it (mistake six out) as he winged everything else after that. The horses are running well and are healthy so long may that last - in time we'll have a nice team. This fellow and Carriganog are in the (Galway) Plate and they'd be touch and go to get in but will run if they do. Tigris River might sneak into the hurdle and Plinth is in it too. There is a chance a couple of them will get in - I don't think the entries are as big this year and if they get in, they'll run.
Dundrum Lad wins under Madden
I'm delighted with him and that's his job with a bit of nice ground. He got a lovely ride and he (Madden) was delighted with him. He's tough and it was a nice first run over fences. Fingers crossed and we'll see where Frank (Berry, racing manager) and JP want to go next.
Well-backed Vic follows-up at Tipp
We're very proud of her and she was bursting at home and was in some form this morning. It took two of us to hold her around the parade ring!. If everything is right she might go to Galway but she'll finish up before the end of August (in-foal to Rock Of Gibraltar). There's a two mile handicap hurdle and a chase later in the week for her at Galway. I only have seven horses for the track for the summer and have 13 three year olds to come in. We're trying to expand and get up to 30 horses so we're looking for more.
Maguires take the bumper with Boss
He is a nice horse and he got a super ride. He is a gorgeous big horse, he is 17hh plus and he needed the time he was given. He couldn't go to the sales at Punchestown because he had a very bad drop behind and it took while to sort it out.
