Lyons & Keane take the opener with Velveteen
She's a nice little filly and we have been waiting on the ground. It's nice to win and also with Sheikh Fahad (of Qatar Racing Limited) sponsoring the race. Every time we had her ready the ground was soft, and even yesterday it would not have suited. There is very little of her, and it was a brave performance from a bad draw (stall one). We will try to get a stakes race for her, and I don't imagine we will be looking at her as a three-year-old.
Istan defies top-weight under Moore
We always liked him at home and he'd a nice run the first day but was a bit disappointing after that. He travelled well today and it looks like he'll get further.
Admirable Gordon wins the Minstrel again
I thought if he was right he was well capable of beating those. I didn't think there was a Group 1 horse in against him, and on his day he's still a Group 1 horse. In his work he showed that he was as good as ever. He's had life long problems with allergies, and in the spring we thought we were losing the battle. He'll probably come back for a Group 3 here in August, and he'll go back to Haydock. If we get invites, he may go on his travels again!
Rose now two from two
She did it nicely and is a progressive filly. We'll progress her along and maybe look for a Listed race next. She's an immature filly and has taken a bit of time to come to hand. She only won by a nose on debut, and the race took quite a bit out of her. She's a filly that I will enjoy training for the remainder of this year, and next year. She will only come into her own next year, and should mature into a proper filly next year. We'll take our time with her.
Bocca gets Group 2 win to her name
They didn't give her an easy lead today. She just took a while to get going, and another 100 yards would suit her. She has gone on improving. Races like the Beverly D, the A P Taylor and Prix de l'Opera are all possible targets. She has her Group 2 and we just want a Group 1 now.
Asbury bosses it from the front
They went a nice even gallop all the way, and he sees it out well. The last day they went a bit steady and he was taken off his feet when they quickened up. Shane gave him a good ride today. He stays really well and loves the ground. I was thinking about the amateur race at Galway but when we saw how this race was cutting up we decided to come here. We'll see how he comes out of this, and he could still go to Galway.
Newcomer Vega springs surprise
She is a light framed filly but was going well and working well. She was sitting in behind and quickening well. We were only working her over five and six furlongs but she has a good pedigree and we knew she would stay further. I think she's a Stakes filly, and ground wise we will keep her off the extremes. She will come on a lot from that.
