O'Grady making hay
excuse the pun, but things fell into place for Slieveardagh today! It was the right result for us although not necessarily in the right order. Slieveardagh cut his leg in his last hurdle run at Killarney and while it was his first run back and his first run over fences, he jumped well. He was a good hurdler and should now make a nice chaser - we'll probably go for a winners' race at Galway next.
Plot thickens at Tipperary
Captain fantastic in Grimes Hurdle
Captain Cee Bee as he is a very very good horse and this will leave him spot on for Galway. He is top weight in the Plate and while that has always been his objective, we'll sit down now and finalise plans. He has 10st11lbs in the Galway Hurdle and plans could change between now and then . it's a quandary which race to go for but it's a nice quandary to have. It's a better than worrying about one getting into a 47-60 flat handicap at Ballinrobe or dropping out of the system altogether!
No catching Catcherinscratcher
fair play to Eddie . he told us he was selling us ‘a fair one' when he was selling Catcherinscratcher. I'm always giving out to him but fair play to him he was spot on with her!. Davy gave her a lovely ride and she obviously gets three miles well. She'll go for those long distance mares' hurdles now.
McManus Doubles up
he's a consistent little fella and we'll tip away in those type of handicap hurdles. He handles that ground very well.
Comet blasts to bumper treble
Donatis Comet is very tough but isn't really a national hunt horse as he had a problem with a hock previously. He is unlikely to run at Galway but may get an entry in the 1m4f amateur maiden.
