Look Closer impresses in Cork
That was very impressive and Rachael gave him a super ride. Going on his last run, he wouldn’t have been too far (away) today and everything is flying at the moment. We’ll keep going for the summer but have nothing lined up next.
Options open up for impressive Val De Ferbet
He has been a bit hit and miss to jump but he was absolutely perfect around there. We had been campaigning him mostly over hurdles because we were worried about the jumping but the way he has jumped there will give us a lot of options for next year. We never got his head in front last year, he was second I think about four or five times. He ran a couple of lovely races but just seems a bit better this year. He's a very good, genuine horse. He could probably run in a couple of good chases next year and there might even be a day or two on the Flat for him as well.
Blackmore edges towards Conditional Title
he had his ground and trip and Rachel is on fire! She gave him a super ride. It was his first run over fences so I didn't know what way it would go. I've nothing in mind but it's been a good weekend so far.
Conduct Yourself scores 25/1 surprise
she couldn’t walk on the ground at Wexford (when pulled up) but I’m delighted to get a pot like this today. There was a point when I thought she was useless but she has improved since and the valuable handicap hurdle on the Saturday of the Punchestown Festival could be a possibility next.
Hurley off the mark with Sunchyme
That's my first winner and hopefully the first of many more!. I worked for four years with Noel Meade and have also trained a few point-to-point winners. I've six or seven horses but only one more for the track. This fellow hasn't been the easiest to train but is very talented. Today's ground helped and he'll keep going for the summer and could go back over fences.
Hayes seals 207/1 double on Boru Boy
It's been a lucky place to come for him and that's two wins from two runs here. He is good and we have him as a sport horse. We'll see what way the ground is but could give him another couple of runs over hurdles before eventually going chasing.
Minella Beau shows plenty in his first bumper
He doesn't do anything in a hurry but keeps galloping and the further he goes, the better he'll be. I'm not sure what the plans are but he could go jumping next and it's nice to get one ahead of Jamie (Codd). He was originally bought by an Englishman and when the Brexit vote happened he told us to sell all his horses. He had been in training all along apart from a little setback at Christmas and that's what stopped him running until now. My grandfather won the Slan Abhaile with Ararun in these colours in the 1980s but that's dad's first runner for the Mees. It's nice to get it as I recommended him to the Mees.
