Bay bags big prize on return
That's a nice bonus. Joe Foley and Steve Parkin bought her at the Champions Sale and she is a nice addition to the team,. In fairness to Kevin he told me all about her and told me that she loves soft ground, was very genuine and very honest. All we had to do was bring her home, let her settle in and make sure she was eating and sleeping. I knew as much about her as you did coming here today. We were going to learn about her today on the track. There is a listed race coming up in a couple of week. My plan was that this would be it and then put her away as I think she's on the leg and I think there is a lot of growing in her. The aim when she was bought was to get black-type. Whether it's this year I don't know, we might let her grow up and let it be next year. That's a super bonus and I'm delighted.
Yulong Gold Fairy stars in Naas
She was impressive. She did it well when she won in Galway for us and this has always been the plan. We'll put her away for the year now and look forward to her being a stakes filly for next year. She'll appear in one of the 1,000 Guineas trials next spring. She was coming home very nicely there so it's logical to try her in one of the classic trials next spring. She's good. She's pretty adaptable ground wise and is a good-moving filly.
Lyons and Keane at double with Elegant Pose
I didn't see that happening in the last furlong. She's some little titch. She's green as grass and never travelled like we thought she would. We thought coming back to the mile would be no problem to her. This dam is so lucky for Glenburnie, with Brendan (Brackan) winning yesterday and now this filly. She can only improve for a winter on her back because we've been training her with next year in mind. The sky is the limit and we have a lovely filly on our hands. She's a huge addition to the yard and I'm looking forward to her next year. I'm after getting a buzz out of that because I didn't see it happening a furlong down. It's a good day at the office. I got some pleasure out of Brendan Brackan winning yesterday but that's nearly after equalling it. It's great for Mrs Patino who flew over to see her on Thursday. She's a lovely woman who just loves her horses.
Mearu gets valuable win
That's job done and she's ready for the paddocks now,. She's out of a Galileo mare and is a half-sister to Cimeara who won at Gowran on Wednesday. That could be it for her — her job is breeding.
Mustajeer brings up treble for Lyons/Keane
Coming here I thought this was my best chance judged on everything we were seeing at home. We knew he wanted further and we knew he'd handle the ground. He looked around a good bit when he hit the front so you'd like to think there is a little bit of improvement in him. I think there is another day for him either in Leopardstown or back here. We can step up to twelve (furlongs) if we want to but today was important and it's a good day in the office for everybody concerned. I'm delighted.
Reds Stars keeps at it best in Naas
She stays well, she's very honest and she goes on that sort of ground. It was similar when she won at Roscommon last year. She had a bit of a break during the summer. She came back and was third at Galway, third at Limerick and better again today. The plan was to run her here and then the November Handicap before she retires but whether she runs in the November Handicap now I'm not so sure. She's done well and we can't complain. We might retire her on that note but I'll see what the owner says. She's a genuine filly and that's what you need today.
