Jumbo Rio takes opener at Leopardstown
The decision of the Punchestown Stewards was vindicated here today. He is a lovely horse and we only had him 4 weeks when he won at Punchestown. He doesn't know if he's improved or not but I hope he has. He is a speed horse and hopefully it's upwards from here and he will go The Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham next.
Savitha scores for Nolan
She deserved it she has been unlucky all season. She got a lovely ride and Ruby [Walsh] said she might be better over 2 ¿ miles, she gets caught for a bit of toe that's when stamina comes into play. We will stick to hurdling and see what comes up.
Panda-monium as Vinny crashes out
Cooldine takes Grade 1 at Leopardstown
The experience he gained in The Durkan Chase was a big help and stood him in good stead. Ruby [Walsh] said he idled in front and he stayed every inch of the trip. The obvious choice is The Royal Sun Alliance Novice Chase it has been a lucky race for me. Ideally we would have preferred a 5 week break rather than the 4 week break but he hasn't had a hard season and he appeared to have plenty left in the tank. He thrived on his racing last season.
Nolan records double
That was nice, thought he'd win easier before the last but he didn't jump it very quick. The ground is Yielding to Soft out there and it kind of helped us, he just ran very flat the last day. As regards plans he's entered in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham so we'll see what weight he gets or he may go to Fairyhouse over the Easter.
Walsh records treble
It took the horse a week to regain his confidence after his fall here the last day. He took a good old blow today, he has been giving the young horses a lead over the baby hurdles to get his confidence back. That's the best he's jumped for awhile. We put a sheepskin noseband on him today to help him concentrate and that run should be ideal for the Cheltenham Gold Cup. If we got this ground in Cheltenham it would be ideal. We will probably go to Punchestown after Cheltenham.
Things didn't go well at Cheltenham last year so we will probably go to Aintree and Punchestown with him instead.
Mullins wins another bumper
Patrick [Mullins] said he was a bit green in front but he did what he was asked. He shows a fair bit of toe at home and the second horse looked like a good horse so that was a fair performance. I have never had a team like I have at the moment.
