Behind The Wall wins at 50/1 on hurdling bow
He is a grand horse and we only started schooling him two weeks ago. He blew the start at Dundalk last week and we only ran him over two miles to see would his stamina last and he stayed on really well. He'll be better on better ground and Conor (Maxwell) said he'd also be better in a truer run race. He only cost two grand and Denis Hogan, who had the favourite (Zanavi), was over at the Sales and did the deal and bought him privately for us. After Sceptical died Jim (Gough) went and must have bought 30 horses in six weeks and we couldn't afford to have them all in training so we started tipping away with a few. We have about 27/28 riding out; we have an awful lot of horses with issues, that's the type of horse we buy and Denis (Hogan) will always get some horses. It would have always been the intention to send this horse down to him, with the horse going jumping. We were doing the pre-training with Denis and have a great relationship and are extremely close. At the minute we're tipping away but I'm sure it won't be too long before he gets plenty of the horses - I can do without riding seven or nine lots every day!
Darrens Hope lands Grade 3 hurdle
I'm over the moon,. She is a fine mare and I knew there was a good one in her and she was third in this race last year. We were hoping the ground would suit her today and she was lame a week before her second-last race. She was perfect today and was at home on that ground.
Scarlet And Dove wins Limerick's Grade 2
Glorious Galway quite happy at gruelling Limerick
He won here in Christmas 2018 and he was third in this race two years ago. One of the syndicate members Phil Callaghan passed away and we'll dedicate this win to him.
Mercury Lane gains deserved win for Nolan & Cooper
he deserved that as he's run into some fairly all right types, including Velvet Elvis, who has won since and ran well at Navan yesterday when third. Cheekpieces sharpened him up but I'd imagine he'll be one for those competitive staying handicap chases in future. It's great that the (Nolan) horses are coming back into form.
Seangoell scores for Norman Lee and Slevin
She deserved it on her last two runs and J.J. (Slevin) gave her a super ride and we had one of the best jockeys in the race. She is belonging to a great owner and supporter of the yard John Davitt and his wife Rose and it's great for the lads in the yard. She is tough, genuine and if she doesn't get risen (in the weights) too much maybe there will be another one in her. She got badly hurt the day she won her point to point (at Bandon in March 2019)and it was the people in Fethard Veterinary Clinic that saved her. We have 30 in the yard and are busy busy but have the best staff we've ever had - I am only part of a big wheel.
