Emily Gray gets luck of the green!
I don't know whether or not we'd have caught the winner as it's a quick run-in. However I did think the other one (Piece D'Or) was stopping and we'll take what we get!. she ran shocking at Downpatrick the last day but Timmy (Hyde) said she'd run much better today and we were fortunate in a number of ways; the early favourite (Royal Moll) was taken out and then the third favourite (Catimini) was kicked at the start and had to be withdrawn. We certainly won't be giving it back though!
Danequest wins for Sweeney/Heskin
he had been working well and I told Adrian to arrive with him late and in fairness he gave the horse a very good ride. He (Danequest) will go to Dundalk for a 1m2f handicap on October 25 next.
Far Away So Close wins the Grade 3 match
He has been a great money spinner. Hopefully he will be okay as he has had leg trouble in the past. You could call him frustrating but he is always in the money and he never runs a bad race. I just hope he is okay in the morning. Davy said he wasn't having a cut at his fences. He would prefer more of an ease in the ground. We will have a talk with Eddie and Michael (O'Leary) now to see where he goes next, but he will probably stick to the conditions race and maybe go for a few handicaps. Today was the stroke of the century!
Seven takes the Munster National for Brassil
It is amazing what confidence can do. He had been struggling last year with the bad summer and also the year before, he almost got to dislike racing, but he had to win a couple before he started to believe in himself. It is hard to believe that he is still actually a novice but today was his best day. I was surprised how well he travelled in the race and he probably got there plenty soon but he had to commit when he got there. This was the major plan, but maybe something like the Irish National or the other one could feature for him now. I put a stick to him the other day and he was the exact same height as Numbersixvalverde. He is 16 hands and three quarters of an inch.
142/1 double for Casey as Hat takes the last
Everything was right today, the trip, the ground and he has that bit of experience. He showed the experience especially over the last two fences. At Listowel the last day he was in contention before making a mistake at the fourth last and he also missed the second last.
