Island off the mark in Curragh opener
She's a filly we've always liked and I'm delighted for her owner Abdullah. He bought this filly after her debut run at Naas,. We went to Ascot thinking we had a live one and things just didn't happen for her, with the way the race panned out. That can happen with a two-year-old, being so inexperienced going there. Things didn't work out the last day again but she's come out of that, back to six and she's finished out her race lovely. Dylan gave her a lovely ride. She looks like a filly that will continue to improve, she doesn't over-race and she settles and relaxes. She came home well and we're delighted for everyone. Dylan said he was going to get her to relax, get her behind something, and if he was happy with what was in front of him he was just going to follow. She's in the Debutante but it might be a little bit soon because she's actually starting to grow a little bit. We'll see what happens, we might step up in grade and stay at six. A faster run race might suit her. She's has black-type already, she's won her maiden, so now it's about trying to win a stakes race. Something like the Firth Of Clyde could be a race for her, she handles a little ease in it. She should be able to go and win her stakes race, she's a sister to a Group 1 winner (Lezoo) so it's all about adding to that now.
Goldmoyne a 40/1 winner for Doyle & Bowen
He has a lot of ability but he's fairly headstrong. If he did things right I was hoping he'd have a chance,. He needs to mature and behave himself a bit better. If we can get him to do things right he's well handicapped. He was a handful before the race and I thought he was after boiling over and he was very keen with Sean early in the race. He's very tough, when they come to him he does find. He was going away again at the line. If we could get him to behave himself and do things right he should progress. It's hard to bowl along and keep it up here. I like him, I think he's a nice horse. We were very lucky to get in here today as he was 21 on the ballot and they increased the number from 16 on Friday morning to 25. Only for that we wouldn't have gotten in. I thought this place would suit as he has a high cruising speed. There are very few races for a lowly rated three-year-old so I was delighted to get in today and he showed what he can do.
Kadeen collects on third outing
We're very pleased with that, he's had two nice runs previously and Ronan gave him a lovely ride and went forward,. Hopefully he'll progress from there. He's green but it's only his third run. He's a very nice horse and something to look forward to.
Angelic Appeal scores on handicap debut
She's been threatening to do that. She's been consistent this year without winning,. We thought a lot of her last year. Early on last year we thought she was one of our best fillies but the next thing she grew and grew. It's great and she did that nicely. She has a lovely pedigree so hopefully we can win another handicap with her and then see where we go. It would be nice if she keeps progressing.
Carroll strikes for Ballydoyle on Unless
We're delighted with her,. She always looked like she would get that trip and she's a typical Justify, wants a classic trip, and she could even get further as Gary said she galloped all the way down to the boards. She's Clemmie's first foal so she's a seriously valuable mare. She will definitely stay further and the Yorkshire Oaks could be a possibility.
Grappa Nonino a winner for Weld & Hayes
He did it well. Chris gave him a peach of a ride, he was in the box seat turning for home. He did well to get him from a 17 draw across and that was important because I thought there was quicker ground on the far rail, and that's been evident all day. He's a good actioned horse. He ran a reasonable race in Galway last week, I was disappointed with him but the ground had gone soft to heavy and that's not for him. He was drawn wide and ran a bit keen. It was a combination of things and things just didn't work out in that particular race. He's a smashing horse to train, he's won a couple on the Flat and he's won over hurdles this year as well. He has a great owner, Gregg Ryan in America. He'll be enjoying watching the race and his future will be to go to America as a dual-purpose horse.
Lady Lunette a promising filly for Cody
I'm thrilled with her. She got 12lb for winning in Gowran, which I thought was very harsh and I wasn't too sure whether she'd be up to that mark,. She's a progressive, she's a big raw filly. I just didn't know if she'd be good enough today but I'm thrilled with her, she got a brilliant. That was a proper race, I think it was a very good fillies handicap. There were no hiding places and I'm over the moon. She's next year's filly. We might give her on more run, we'll see. She's a big raw, tall filly and I think she's a nicely filly going forward.
