Star shines brightest in Curragh opener
She'll be better when the she gets better ground. She travelled well throughout the race today and she will be back here for her next race in the Moyglare Stakes.
Famous thrashes Born in Royal Whip Stakes
He is an amazing horse. That is his nineteenth win and eighteen of them have been in Stakes races. He is a wonderful tribute to his owner and his breeding operation. He is a 7yo and has been in training for six years. His enthusiasm for racing and his courage is what racehorse should be all about. I will speak to Lord Grimthorpe and Khalid Abdullah and see where he'll go next. You can see he is in great form.
Special win for Shanahan
I knew she was in super form, and she did a bit of work yesterday morning that I was thrilled with. I felt she had definitely come on 7lb, although I wasn't happy to see the rain. We will give her a little break now as she has had three hard races, and she will probably go for the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp (on Arc day). She's American bred so we're hoping she will go on better ground. Jimmy (Long) is a super man to train for and he just lets me get on with things. He's based in Dubai, so she could end up there over the winter.
Pedro takes incident packed Phoenix Stakes
He won his maiden very impressively. He was a bit fresh the last day and we decided to take our time with him today and he settled well. He won't mind stepping up to seven furlongs and its quite possible he will come back here for the National Stakes.
Star fails to shine as Lily takes top honours
Although she was seventh in the July Cup the form of that race has worked out well. She done it well today despite the ground and she is lovely consistent filly and could come back here next month for the Renaissance Stakes.
Peak performance by Stones in fillies handicap
She is just a different filly this year. She's stronger and Ronan gets on well with her. She handles soft ground really well, and she's tiny but has a big heart.
Double for Smullen as Jembatt takes the last
I didn't think he would handle the ground. He (Pat Smullen) was trying to ride him from off the pace and he came through really well. I hope the handicapper doesn't be too hard on him. He is entered in the Leopardstown on Thursday but we will see how he comes out of this first.
