Big Break a good start for punters at Leopardstown
It was an impressive performance and she loves that fast ground. I'll speak to Lord Grimthorpe (the Abdullah racing manager) to see if we run her again. We'll consider the C L Weld Stakes which is named after my father. That's at the Curragh in a few weeks time. If the ground has gone though we'll put her away until next season. I see her as a potential English 1000 Guineas filly, she's very talented. If she has the courage of her full-brother (Famous Name) she won't let us down on many days.
Slipped saddle no worry for O'Brien
He won very nicely at Gowran. I was a bit worried halfway (crossing the road, he jumped it) through the race here when the saddle went right back on him. I was afraid turning into the straight that he (Joseph) was going to come off and it was a good performance considering.
Chachamaidee 'wins' dramatic Matron Stakes
Speranza upstages better-fancied rivals
I'm very happy to win a race of that calibre with her. She'd been knocking at the door and it's good to get her head in front. That ground suits her fine and it's the the first time she got it in quite a while. She got the trip well too. We ran her in the Guineas (6th behind Homecoming Queen) and maybe ran her back a bit quick then. It took her a while to get over that.
Fairy goes a place better a year on
She's an unbelievable racehorse. I've nearly lost my voice. I'm relieved for the horse more than anything. For the owner and Frankie I'm so happy too. Frankie had never won on her and Ryan (Moore, out injured) had won six out of six on her. To do what she did is amazing and Frankie gave her a great ride. They went flat out. We were of the opinion that we'd take our time as she has an electric turn of foot. She's now won a Group 1 in Europe against colts. She's a horse of a lifetime and I've had two of those now (Ouija Board being the other). It's been a huge team effort from John Warwick, the vet, who operated on her (after a serious tendon injury) and Jessica Harrington who had her for two months. She's a better horse this year but I don't know why. All credit to the owner (Cristina Patino of Anamoine Limited). It would have been very easy to retire her but she was very keen to try the operation and it worked. I want to go to the Breeders Cup and she's in the Arc. We'll take one race at a time. We'll take her home and talk to Mrs Patino now. She's in the Champion but there is a certain horse called Frankel in that. If she's alright we wouldn't mind going there.
Lyons gets Lily back to top-form
It was good game performance. She was bought as a potential broodmare. She looked a bit over the top and like she had enough. We just kept her sweet and the plan was to come here and if she showed enough enthusiasm to keep going. She was 97 rated in England and if she ran to that she was going to be hard to beat.
Friarstown produces a nice prospect in Mooqtar
I think that's one of the stallion's first winners. He's in the Beresford. I'll talk to the boss but I think that'll be his next mission.
Hardy & tough Dream lands the last
He's a hardy tough horse. He handles fast ground and he stays. I thought St Nicholas Abbey ran a good race (3rd in the Champion Stakes to Snow Fairy) and we're very happy with him.
