Beach outmuscles Navan rivals
I thought he'd improve a good bit from the Curragh. He was very raw at the Curragh and Fran said he is still a bit raw and that he'll improve again. That's his ground as he is American bred and he hops off it. I'd say judged by the talk beforehand that it was a decent auction maiden but only time will tell. He is entered in the Railway Stakes (June 29th at the Curragh) although that might be aiming a bit high.
Questions lands a gamble for Lynam & Foley
That's good to get. He handled the ground which I didn't he would, but he did. Being a Moss Vale there was a question mark over him. He is owned by a gentleman. I know him as Trevor but I'm not sure if that is his real name! . He has been with me a long time and he is from Markethill in Armagh.
Dream shows his Speed under Robinson
That is the first time he has got his ground for a long time. He is an older horse now but he still has plenty of ability and he ran today like he has been working at home. Dylan is a good little rider and he is great value for his claim. We will see what he gets for that and he could run again here next Friday but ideally I would like to freshen him up and then bring him back.
Stepwise battles to feature race success
It was a bit of a slow pace and I thought beforehand that we might have to make the running. Joseph (O'Brien aboard Forester) went off in front and then slowed it down and that didn't really suit as our horse probably wants a mile and a quarter. He is a very nice horse and he goes well on fast ground. We will keep stepping him up in class and probably in distance. We could look at something like the International Stakes at the Curragh on Derby weekend or else wait for the likes of the Meld Stakes or the Royal Whip.
Double for Oxx as Rocktique scores on debut
She is a nice filly and was quite professional there today. She may have been in front soon enough but she was in a good position all the way through the race. We will see how she goes but beforehand I was thinking if she won today that I'd step her up to a mile and a quarter for the Oaks Trial at Naas but now I'm not so sure whether we will stick to a mile or go up to a mile and a quarter. She likes good ground and she would probably go on a little ease in the ground. She is a fine big filly and we have always thought a good bit of her. She fractured a pastern around this time last year when she was about a week off a run.
Foley doubles up as Danzerini obliges
That was ride of the week and he loves that ground. He deserved that win and he really rattled off the fast ground. I thought he got a wonderful ride from Shane and he has been riding great all year.
League appreciates the quick ground
He disappointed at Killarney but it was very bad ground and the better ground today helped. He has been running consistently and he was entitled to win that.
