Broom wins opener for O'Brien again
He had a nice run the last day and was still quite green and raw again today but has plenty of ability. It's not ideal making the running on a horse that green but with those small fields nobody else was going to go, so I said I'd go myself. This is a nice horse and there is plenty of improvement in him.
Astronomer brings up double for O'Briens
It wasn't ideal (dropping in trip) but the race came up and he showed his stamina in the final furlong. I had a grand position once I got out and once I got a few belts into him, and I thought I'd always get there. He probably wants further but with the bit of soft ground he got away with the mile today.

Truffles does it again in Galway
I won on this one last year in Fairyhouse and I knew after she won up here at the start of the week that when she likes a track she rarely puts in a bad effort. Today you can see the whole way she loved it. It's just a case of if she gets her terms out in front she gets her own fractions and after that you just have to sit on her. I was always waiting for something to come to me and they never did. I knew turning in she is so honest she will stay going. That's nine winners so things are going well. It's my third winner of this season. When Gary O'Brien asked me in an interview the last day had I her in again and I said 'I didn't' and all the way I drove home I thought 'you idiot Sheila - you idiot'. But in fact I did have her in again - I don't know why I had a brain freeze and thought I hadn't entered her. She just does her own thing and Gavin gave her a beautiful ride and I think a lot of him actually. I feel sorry for Robbie Colgan who won on her on Tuesday but I really felt she was a small light little filly and I think weight off her back is a big plus. I decided to claim from her as when Robbie won on her she was at the bottom of the weights and weight makes a big difference to her as she is a small little filly.

O'Brien opens his Galway account with Triplicate
It was nice to get a winner here as it was a frustrating week with a few placed horses but it's nice to get a winner and he's a nice horse. He handles an ease in the ground and jumps well. He has a bit to go yet to be a Graded horse over hurdles, and while he could possibly be a Graded horse, he has only won a maiden in August. We'll probably find a winners' race for him next.
Mullins eyes hurdling campaign for Court Maid
I always thought a good bit of her but it took a while to get her to this point. She was third at Gowran first-time out and took a while to get over that but is a lot stronger now in the last couple of months and has really come on stream. She is a well-bred filly and I doubt she'll go for a winners' bumper as I can't wait to get her hurdling. I think she's decent and now she's done the first bit.
