Sycamore makes her experience count
We're delighted with that and she came out of her last run much stronger. We should have made more use of her the last day and we learned a lot from the run. She needs a mile and today was the plan so I'm not sure where she'll go now. Mum is at Howard Spooner's wedding today.
Akeed Mofeed looks really good at Leopardstown
He's a nice horse. There was an incident here with him the last day in the stalls when the one beside him reared up and struck him. He had to be taken out then, reloaded, and not surprisingly he missed the break as he was nervous. When he got going that day (a month back when fourth over the course and distance) he finished well. There was no issue today and he is a professional horse. He'll go for the Beresford (a Group 2 over a mile at the Curragh on September 25th) next and we'll see how he steps-up. He always looked like a nice horse and he has a lot of good qualities. We'll find out more the next day.
Kid is back Rockin & Rollin
He's competitive off that sort of rating. He got put up to a rating of 105 or 6 for a season and a half and he just wasn't competitive off it. We had hoped that he'd make a Listed horse and we tried him but he just wasn't able for it. Hopefully he won't go back over 100 now. The fact that he won over a mile and one there opens things up for him and Danny said that he might get a mile and two in that sort of company. We'll see what's left for him now and there might be a handicap for him over a mile next weekend at the Curragh (the Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Handicap for horses rated 60-100 over a mile on Sunday the 11th).
Adaptable Galileo could go down under
I'm delighted with him. He battled well to win his maiden hurdle at Galway where the third horse was left 28 lengths back in third.
Emulous shows her class in the Matron
I'm very pleased to win a Group One with her. She's already won three Group 3s and that's my first Group 1 winner for Prince Khalid. We just missed out with Famous Name in a French Derby. These Group 1s are hard to win, especially the prestige ones. Emulous is a joy to train and she is very consistent. The Sun Chariot at Newmarket will be her next race, it's the logical progression. She has progressed nicely through the year. She beat Lolly For Dolly at the Curragh impressively and then had an effortless win in a Group 3 at Fairyhouse. It is typical of her family to get better with every run. She is a very good filly and I felt that she'd take a lot of beating here. We decided to wait for today as I was tempted to run her in the Desmond Stakes.
Berry rewarded for his hectic day
So You Think wins Irish Champion Stakes
It's a long time since he ran (63 days) and you'd always be worried about that. We'll discuss things during the week now as to where he'll go next. He cruises through his races and all options are open to him. He is an incredible specimen of a thoroughbred. I'm delighted. It had been a while since he ran and he hadn't been away from home.
Monaghan & Goldplated continue to progress
She is getting better and better. She is progressing and keeps finding more. We were worried about running her back quickly but she seems to have a great appetite for it. Young Marc gave her a perfect ride. I was a bit worried that he'd get trapped coming around the bend but when he pulled her out she quickened up well. She stays forever and she is in the Group 3 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster next week. That'll probably come too soon though.
