Alaivan wins his match with Carlito
It was a pity the race cut up so much. It is tricky with second season horses to find opportunities and for me this race served its purpose. He would have otherwise had to run in the Red Mills or the Irish Champion Hurdle. It was tragic that this race wasn't better supported. He is in the Tote Gold Trophy and he is in at Cheltenham but he'll hardly do both.
Hughes on the mark again - with Canaly
He ran a good race at Leopardstown at Christmas on his first run back and he had his chance today. Paddy said that he lost his reins after the last and that they came a bit close. This horse should win a novice hurdle and he goes on good ground as well.
Elcanos eventually gets a win
He's had a lot of problems. He could have been a good horse when he was younger. He's been very unlucky but I am delighted for his owner, Donal Houlihan from Maynooth, a farming man and one of life's gentlemen.
Montan makes it 2 for Martin & Carberry
The Sneezer blows the opposition away
Tom thought the ground wasn't as deep as what he ran on the last day and that helped him. He got a very easy lead and Tom had suggested that we drive on with him today. He's a great judge of pace. This is a small horse but he's a great jumper.
Tusa steps up with experience
He was very green going to Naas the first day as he hadn't done as much as a lot of my bumper horses and it showed. He learned a lot from that and he won quite well today. He'll stick to bumpers this season and I think he's good enough to win a winners event.
