Serpentine storms into St Leger mix
Buckhurst just loves 10 furlongs in Curragh
Big Gossey and Hussey a winning team
Ancient Spirit thriving for Harrington
It’s nice to see him back up his win in Navan. He’s a lovely horse and is growing in confidence getting his head in front. He didn’t get things his own way today and had to go after the horse in front. When he’s got there Shane said he did it easy enough.
Big Baby Bull roars home for Sheridan
Frenetic all speed in First Flier Stakes
She’s the fastest we have and was our Queen Mary horse if we had one. The plan was to go to Naas (for the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Irish EBF Fillies’ Sprint Stakes) next week with her and we held an entry here just to see how the race panned out. I said to Colin going out to be careful with the wind like that as she’s light and his biggest problem was going to be keeping her on the ground. I’ll hold an entry next Saturday. I don’t want to abuse her but she’s a two-year-old written all over her and if she’s fit and well will go to Naas next Saturday.
Santiago leads home O'Brien clean sweep of Irish Derby
Ascot was his first run of the year and he had a tough enough race over a mile and six. It was a big call and a big worry to run but obviously there is only one Irish Derby. We were always going to ride him patiently as that’s the way he has to be ridden. The rain was a big help to him as he handles an ease in the ground. I think it was an honest gallop. They ran good races, so I'm delighted. Santiago is a lovely, straightforward horse. He likes to take his time in his races and Seamus got a lovely run through and stayed very well. We thought he could be a Leger horse, and we were going to look forward to him for next year. He's a lovely, clean winded, honest horse. We thought he’d be a lovely Cup horse for next year. If he didn’t come here he might have gone to Goodwood over two miles. I think so (go for the St Leger), it looks a lovely race for him. There is a chance he could have a break now and be trained for the St Leger. We have the second and the third there too, so we will see what the lads want to do. They are two lovely horses (Tiger Moth and Dawn Patrol) and are two babies. They are progressing. In a month's time they will be even better we think. Seamus is a great fella, lot of experience and works hard. We are delighted for him. He knows the horses very well.
