Intelligence justifies strong market support
He's a nice horse and improved nicely. He had a lovely run under Ana the first day. He loves fast ground and Ryan said the ground didn't feel that bad on him. He was very happy with him. I was worried about the ground for this horse but Ryan was surprised by how nice it was. We'll maybe look at the July Stakes at Newmarket with him. He's very fast and I'd imagine we'll stay at six furlongs for a good while with him - as long as we can. He's a big strong horse and made like a sprinter.
Breathe avoids drama for Easy win
It was his first run for me. He had been working very well and I thought he was very straight for his first run. Everina (Kilfeather) thought the ground might be a bit too slow for him but we got away with it and Wayne said he wasn't done with. He's very straight forward and quiet at home but when he comes racing he gets wound up and hot. He might go to Galway for the Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap or the Topaz Mile.
Sruthan lands another big Curragh pot
That's great. Good horses change seasons. Colm was brilliant on him. He said the longer he sat on him he was able to fill him up and the better he felt. He said he really wanted it today. I thought he was beat to be honest and nearly turned around and walked away a furlong-and-a-half out thinking 'he should have won'. The cheekpieces (second time fitted) helped as he's getting cute in his old age. He might get another run before Champions Weekend where we'll aim for the Boomerang Stakes again. It depends where we get a bit of ease.
Jack takes the Railway for Lyons & Keane
He did what we thought he could do. That's not being cocky, we like him but you never know when you have Ballydoyle to deal with. We thought if King Electric could run a race then he had a huge chance. We have Psychedelic Funk but we've always said he's not the only one. He went to Royal Ascot but the ground went against him and he ran a great race to finish third as he was the first horse off the bridle. This horse is still only half a horse and we were worried he was still not mature. I was talking with Colin beforehand and was saying 'have we got this wrong' as King Electric was shorter in the betting but he said no. He got a terrible fall earlier in the day and it just goes to show you that it can go one way or the other so quickly in racing. I'm delighted both horses and jockeys were alright. I said at Navan that winning a Railway was as important to me as winning a Coventry. They are both Group 2's. I made a stupid mistake taking this horse to England (Newbury). It was pure greed and I only took him over to have another horse with Endless Drama. I don't like standing around all day for one race and it wasn't fair on him to run him but it didn't do him any harm and he learned from it. We'll look at the Phoenix Stakes now with him and Psychedelic Funk.
Courageous Harzand completes Derby double
I knew Aidan would have his horse (Idaho) in tremendous order and that he'd be better than Epsom so I knew we'd have to be at our very best and also better than at Epsom to win. It was a magnificent race and he showed speed today. People said he didn't have the speed but he showed it today and the two horses picked up and quickened. The first two improved considerably from Epsom. They just didn't quicken once, they quickened twice. Idaho is a high class horse and it was a proper horse race. It was a great ride from Pat and we saw two jockeys at the top of their profession ride brilliant races. It was horse racing at its best. I was concerned because he had a very hard race at Epsom. We always knew he was very tough but he had to be 110 percent today. I'll give him a well-deserved break now and train him for the Arc. This is a very, very special race and I've been enjoying it since I was a child. I've been fortunate enough to win it three times now (Zagreb in 1996 and Grey Swallow in 2004).
Way makes it a 230/1 double for Deegan
We have been relying on a lot of these lads this year as we moved into a new yard and didn't buy a lot of young stock. He ran a blinder the last day but just didn't come down the hill on the fast ground, even though he handles fast ground. The ground was perfect today but he still lugged a little. I thought he was beat. He's been a great servant. I can't believe what a day it has been. You'd have to have Galway in the back of your mind and he has a couple of options there. While he's in good form we might keep him going though. I know he's won his maiden hurdle but there is plenty more to come from him over jumps. We've just kept that on the back burner.
Toscanini bounces back to his best
We always knew that he was a talented horse but he just needed to get stronger. Turning four helped him and we gelded him when he came back from Dubai. He relaxed today. He just tried to do it all in one breath at Cork. We took the cheekpieces off today and put a hood on. He was a bit weak last year. He's such a cruiser that people were disappointed when he came off the bridle. He battled it out today though and Shane said when Kevin's horse came to him he wanted it. He's a decent horse and hopefully that will do his confidence good. We'll stick to six furlongs with him. Today was the plan and we'll see from here.
Hayes another to register a 230/1 brace
