Diakali delivers in Gowran opener
A brand new stirrup leather broke at the start and that caused the delay (race went off eight minutes late). The metal part broke. He hurdled very well for his first time and hopefully there will be nice improvement in him. He did it nicely and we will be looking to up him in grade now.
Reine provides Mullins/Townend with a double
She is improving all the time. After she won the last day I thought she needed good ground but she did a piece of work on heavy ground during the week and I couldn't believe how well she worked. She will be kept to mares races now.
Treat Yourself lands a touch
That's the first winner I have had for his owner Liam Breslin who is from Naas. He also has Boomshakalaka who was the favourite for the Grand National at one stage. I'm delighted for him as he is a very sporting man. This fellow will go over fences shortly but hopefully there will be another hurdle in him. Gareth is on a roll.
Punters Happy as New Year scores
That was a long time coming. We brought him to Punchestown around this time last year and we thought he wouldn't be beaten but he let us down badly. He let us down a few times since as well. I suppose you could describe him as a little bit of a rogue. That was his first time running over three miles and he wasn't too tired at the finish. He will go for another handicap next and he will go back over fences.
Cyclone shows his class
He is a lot better out in front. Everyone was knocking him for his jumping but they can't after today. I am delighted with his jumping. I will speak to his owners now but the Lexus at Leopardstown looks the likely race. They probably didn't go fast enough for him the last day and he likes a stronger pace. A lot of the Stowaway's like to be out in front.
Treble for Mullins as Aupcharlie obliges
He seems to be the horse he was when we got him. He is stronger this year.
Clashnabrook completes great day for punters
He is a fine big horse and he jumped well. He loves that ground and he will go for something similar around Christmas time. Phillip gave him a good positive ride. I have ten in at the moment and I had a double at Affane point-to-point last weekend.
