Favourite Kafu wins opener on Ulster Derby Day
He's after sharpening up a lot since the last day. He's a horse we actually thought a bit of so hopefully he can go forward now and progress,. We were drawn out (wide) a little bit but the run under his belt helped. He'll have no bother stepping up to six (furlongs) but between five and six for the moment.

Kalaxana can go higher after Ulster Oaks win
If she'd been rated higher we would have went to Naas during the week (the Listed Irish EBF Naas Oaks Trial) but as it was we were happy to come here,. Speaking to Pat Downes (for the Aga Khan) we're thinking that could be her optimum trip and we'll be seeking black-type with her. She's a big improving filly - loads of size and scope to her there. We thought in her homework she would step forward from her Gowran win so it looks like she has.
McNiff wins with lesser fancied Garrison
I thought she (Dayereh) would have taken a lot of beating on her last run. This lad's first run for us he had a real nice run in Limerick and seemed to go backwards big time on his next two starts,. Declan (McDonogh) had won on him before for the last trainer and Declan said he can't be crowded at all. He shows plenty enough at home. First-time blinkers could have been a factor as well. I'd say they went plenty hard, all of the fancied ones were handy and didn't stay going. It's great to get it. The syndicate have been with me basically since I started. He'll go for something similar next time. He's actually in Cartmel on Friday over hurdles in case the blinkers did spark him up. We'll see if we go or not, it depends on what the English handicapper does.
