Stretching overcomes adversity in the opener
Nothing much went right as he made a hames of the first and didn't jump particularly well after that. He does jump well at home but that can happen. He was nearly knocked down at the last but still won. It was workmanlike and he may be better on slower ground. He hung a bit of the bend but has never hung at home and it may be greenness. He will have to improve an awful lot.
Flight completes quick double for Walsh
What more can you ask for? He'd a promising run at Navan and has built on it. He has size and scope, and is going to make a chaser in time. He'll stick to hurdles this season, and is still very raw and green. He will have learned a lot today. He was very slick over his hurdles, and showed a bit of speed. He's an exciting fella.
Income bounces back to form
I was disappointed that she didn't get too far in Mallow. She seemed to jump it well enough but just didn't put down her landing gear. The ground helped and she travelled a bit better today. Hopefully we will have a nice summer with her next year.
Thief makes perfect start over fences
He did it as well as you could have asked. He jumped well and David gave him a super ride. He was quick when he got in short and has loads of scope as well. They went a good lick. That was what I was hoping for and couldn't ask for any more. I will have to speak to Michael and Eddie (O'Leary) but he has a number of options. I would normally favour coming back here for the Craddockstown but there are also races at Cheltenham and Navan. He will stick to that trip for the moment but I don't see why he couldn't go up in trip in the future.
Meade doubles-up with Disko
That was good. Sean said he just ran a bit free down the hill where he made the mistake. Some people say a fall is good for a horse. I've never agreed with that but a mistake can crown them, and he jumped well after that today. He had a stress fracture of his stifle last season, and hopefully he comes home okay. He could go for the Drinmore, and I wouldn't mind staying over two and a half miles for the moment, and he could go up to three miles at Christmas. Gigginstown have a lot of horses to consider, and we will have to see what plans are made. I would say the further he goes the better he is, and fences are a big help to him as he's so athletic. He was still a bit keen today but fences are helping him to settle.
Moss Grove continues good run of form
Bel makes it three for Meade & Gigginstown
That was a good day and that's a good horse. He was as weak as a kitten last year, and fell apart when we started to work him. We left him off after Christmas as he needed time. Patrick said he liked that good ground which may not be a help over the winter. He will make a nice chaser, and will go back over hurdles now. Patrick has a 100% record for me. That's two rides and two winners now.
