Gabynako wins opener for Cromwell & Moore
it wasn’t the plan to make the running but Johnny (Moore) decided at the start and I left him to it. It worked out grand and he got a freebie in front.
Elliott hits 100 with unbeaten Call Me Lyreen
Notebook returns with Grade 2 Naas win
he was a little bit rusty over the first few but then jumped really well and stayed at it really well. It’s good to see him back to form and I’d say he’ll go to Leopardstown at Christmas. He loves it around there and has won two Grade 1s there. Rachael said he took a blow at the fourth last and hopefully he’ll come on for it. I’m delighted with him.
Barnaviddaun wins Brown Lad Hurdle
he’s a fun horse for Pat and Laura (Graffin, owners) and it’s great to win this. I won this race with Oscar Knight (in 2017) and it’s a lovely race to win. we were disappointed that he got 6lbs for (finishing second) the Red Mills race; he ran a cracker in it and I was wondering if he was good enough to come here.
Cromwell completes Naas maiden hurdle-double
I’m delighted with that as he’s a three-mile chaser in the making. He’s a next year horse really and I didn’t think he’d win a maiden hurdle a couple of months ago. He toughed it out well from the last. I’m not sure where we’ll go next but we might have to think about a Graded race now.
Moore, Murray and Meyler win with handicap chaser
she’s (Fag An Bealach) a grand mare and it’s lovely to win for these people. Tim Murray is the first owner I ever had and he’s had a runner with us every year since about 1976. You can’t beat loyalty like that and Marcus (Beresford) is with us ages as well. She’ll work away in handicaps. We’ll probably give her about four weeks as she had a tough race there. She’s very genuine. I was a bit worried when they took the fences out in the straight but the result was fine in the end and Donagh gave her a great ride.
Janidil makes winning chase debut
you would have to be very pleased and it looks like he may have come on again from last year and is going to improve over fences. We’ll look for something at Christmas.
