Riverside made to work in Gowran opener
He made a bit of a mistake at the last. It wasn't the greatest race and he would want to improve from that.
Russell the Star on Power
The ground made a big difference. Some people felt he was a bit disappointing at Punchestown but on the far side the ground was a bit sticky and he jumped much better today on that ground.
Polished performance by Rock over hurdles
They went very quick at Tipperary (first run over hurdles) and it was a case of oh my God whats happening? He jumps very well and loves good ground. He'll mix it and will probably go to the Curragh next weekend where he could run over 1m2f, 1m4f or two miles. The four-year-old hurdle at Galway is also a possibility unless Kate gets her way and he goes for the amateur handicap!
Mumbo scores for Mags & Danny Mullins
He is still a bit babyish but he is coming the whole time. He likes a bit of nice ground and I'd say he is a chaser in the making. I'm delighted for his owners, Mary Walsh who is from Midleton and John O'Connor from Cashel (Mullins also has a share).
Veteran Mojito comes good at Gowran
We've been waiting a long while for that but he's been a great old servant. He still retains a bit of ability. The handicapper gave him a chance and dropped him a bit, and we may try him again on the Flat.
Celestial relishes the quick ground
I had my first handicap winner in this race twenty years ago with Nordic Thorn and he was ridden by the late Anthony Powell. This fellow ran in this last year when it was over two miles and only for they put it up to three miles he wouldn't have been running in it this year. He floats on that ground and that is the key to him. He could go for the two mile five furlong handicap at Galway on the Saturday and we may try to find a flat race in between.
O'Donnell off the mark as Dubh takes the last
She is bred by my father Kevin and he also had the dam Aine Dubh. She was a high class mare who was blacktype placed at Aintree.
