Tint hints at ability in debut win
Hint Of A Tint is a nice filly and we've always thought a lot of her. She did it well on testing conditions that weren't ideal and we'll see how she comes out of this . there are plenty of nice fillies races later in the year for her.
Battling win for Chips Are Down
I thought Chips Are Down was well handicapped - he had a few runs and then he got a break to freshen him up. He had to battle and I thought he was beaten a furlong out but he showed a bit of guts to win. He is bred to stay further and might go to Galway for the nursery there.
Martin hitting peak form
Pat is on his way back from his holidays in Killarney - everything is in good hands at home and his staff are working hard. Stones Peak did it well and got a good ride from Ronan . the horses are flying at the moment and Stones Peak's owners (also successful with California Rose) are having a great week too!
Takar takes three runner Group 3
it was straightforward for him and it's not often you get a penalty kick! . He goes on the ground very well and that's a bit surprising as he moves like he wants it hard - his dam wanted it fast too. I've read recently though that Oratorio (Takar's sire) has a good strike rate with his progeny on soft ground. Takar's next run will be at Leopardstown in the Desmond Stakes in mid-August . he might have to face fast ground then though. He has only run once on fast ground, in the Guineas, and he didn't run well when we thought he would love it.
Winning debut for Bolger filly
Keving (Manning) was trying to make her do it right first time out (by holding her up) and it worked out well for her. She is better bred than all of us! Her dam is a full sister to Chief's Crown (a Champion American two year old) and she had the privilege of being ponied to the start by a horse Galileo!
Custom Cut completes four-timer
he keeps improving and he had to punch above his weight today and he did it again. He is thriving with every run and he'll go to Galway next. He'll get an entry for the big mile handicap and the seven furlongs race on the Saturday. We'll also keep an eye out for a Listed race and he's a horse who could travel across the pond. I have to mention the staff . without them he wouldn't be here and it's a family team effort also.
Motherway wins Curragh finale
Authorization is a smashing colt and showed us plenty of raw ability on his debut at Cork last year. He had a little blip in the spring and we had to wait to get him right - I thought he still wasn't 100% right coming here today and he'll come on from that run. Pat (Smullen) said he left the gates well and left him go to the front rather than disappoint him. He has been a bit coltish of late and probably needs to be gelded. Its nice to get a winner at the Curragh . I've had a few dual purpose horses but that's my first flat winner and he's my first proper Flat horse.
