June in April at Tramore
That was not before time being an eight-year-old now. I only have her a couple of months. She was very free up the North (when fifth at Downpatrick). The hood (1st time) helped her in that respect.
Clara takes the luck that comes her way
I ran two today and I thought the other one (Mac Idol) would go better (finished fourth in the first). This mare won a point-to-point in Kilworth and I was advised to go for a mares bumper or the Gain Final but I'm glad I didn't now. That's her first run over hurdles. She's improving and I knew she'd stay. We still thought we had a chance (before Dubh Go Leir's departure) as she doesn't throw in the towel and she stays.
Moloney gets his name back up in lights
That's my first winner since I got my licence back, in March. It's my fourth track winner over-all. I got this mare off Sinead O'Sullivan when she finished-up. We both trained out of Thomas O'Leary's old-yard in Clonakilty. We'll see what this one gets now (from the handicapper) but she won a point-to-point and she might go for a mares beginners chase next.
Favourite backers enjoy The Folkes win
I'm happy with that even though she broke the first fence which is unlike her. I was a bit disappointed with her jumping but Andrew was happy with her. She'll be better on better ground and I saw this race as early as February. I got excited about it then. We'll try and get a bit of black-type for her now. The Grade 3 in Roscommon will be a target for her. Hopefully she'll have better ground then. She's a cousin to Special Tiara (Aintree Grade 1 hero) and she's a full-sister to Royal Choice who won around here too.
Townend completes good day for the clan
I'm not sure what we'll do with him now . he's been on the go a long while.
Qhilimar delights connections
The owners hired a small plane to come over here but I tried to persuade them not to! They had a few quid on him too. I'm thrilled now . Rob gave him a super ride. He has been disappointing and I hope the handicapper isn't too hard on him now.
Well-travelled Dibdabs does job at Tramore
It took a lot to settle him. He took a good 'bite' going down to the start and he was very keen. He didn't handle the downhill parts of the track. He'd prefer somewhere more galloping.
