Carrig Sam toughs it out for Moore and Meyler
I'm very pleased with him. We liked him a lot at home but he just lacked a bit of pace so that's why I said to Donagh to jump out there and if nothing else went on, go on upsides. He's very much a chaser in the making so it's a bonus to win a hurdle. He's a joy to train, he has a lovely temperament and it's lovely to train a winner for Noel Monaghan. That's the second winner for him and his syndicate. It's lovely to be back in the winners' enclosure at Fairyhouse. He'll struggle to win a hurdle again this year, I'd say, but we'll run him a couple more times for experience and then go chasing next year.

Djasek wins a thriller in Fairyhouse
They are great lads that own him (Dewsweepers Syndicate) and they've been waiting a while. They probably should have had their day here this day last year (when runner-up in this race),. They persevered and it's great that luck came their way. His head was just coming up again at the line, a yard before we were in front.

Meyler fires in a New Year's Day treble
It wasn't easy watching when the horse fell in front of him, anything can happen. The plan was to jump out, we ran him here the last day on his first run for me and he was way too keen,. We dropped him in last time, as he can be keen at home, but he ran with his head in the air and it was a complete disaster. He got very tired, pulled up, and we gave him plenty of time at home to get him ready. The tactics today were always going to be to bounce out handy and get him to settle. The horse falling probably hindered us as he would have been with the lead when he had settled. I thought his jumping was exceptional, even when he got in tight, for a big horse. He's probably not a hurdler, he's going to be a chaser for the future hopefully. He's grand, he's doing a job and we're delighted with him. I'd say he'll stay over hurdles this year, he is rated over fences and he's low enough. He's still growing, babyish and backward. He's entered at Clonmel on Thursday and over in England on Friday but he's fairly high over in England compared to his Irish mark. Clonmel is two-mile-three so it probably wouldn't suit him. We'll see what happens but there's no panic as he's a big horse.

Naughtinesse delivers on sentimental day for Fowler
Sometimes you think when you have a day which is full of sentiment like today, with the Fowler race (Grade 3 John & Chich Fowler Memorial EBF Mares Chase), wouldn't it be great if it all fits and it did fit. I didn't target this race specifically, I was very much targeting her for Christmas and I could have run her at Punchestown yesterday but decided to wait for today. We had her pretty ready, not over the top I hope but I wanted her to run well. I thought the ground might just be a bit too tacky for her but she was absolutely fine with it. She's very professional and the family are 'never say die'. Her sister Politesse is much bigger, she's very different but similar also. They give it everything and are so tough. There is no point putting her in a novice hurdle at this stage and all being well, off the back of that she probably justifies going to the Dublin Racing festival.
