Well backed Alexander takes Limerick opener
She is a typical one from our yard in that she needed her first run. She has improved immensely since then. Ger absolutely loves her and loves those Footstepsinthesand horses. She is very genuine and we would have been disappointed if she hadn't done what she has been showing us at home. The Debutante Stakes and the Moyglare are possibilities for her now.
Probably justifies his short price
He is a grand horse. Seven furlongs to a mile is his trip. We will step him up now to Listed or Group company as the year progresses. He is a very straightforward type who goes on any ground.
Danzerini makes it 3 from 3 for favourite backers
That was great. He was a lot more settled today than he was in Fairyhouse. He has improved since Fairyhouse. We will see what the handicapper does with him now. He is a lovely big scopey horse with a lovely pedigree. He would probably prefer the ground even quicker again. We will take babysteps with him.
Topadee bounces back to form
I was going to run her over five furlongs at Navan but I said I would chance her here with the ground yielding (officially good to yielding). I thought she might have needed the run but she is a lovely mare. I don't know what happened to her at Cork last time out (where she pulled up). She is very unfortunate because her two wins have now come when the prize money has been halved (divided races). She will come on for the run. Her owner is Arthur Moynan and he is 92 years old and from Dunmore in Co Waterford. He comes down every fortnight to see her. I met him on Holidays a good few years and he said to me you are either Pat Flynn or his double!
Bubbly another for McGuinness & Brennan
He is in again at Sligo on Tuesday over the same trip. He wanders around a bit and that's why he wears the cheekpieces. He lost his way a bit during the winter but he is back to himself now.
Magic makes it two on the trot
I have twelve horses riding out at the moment, mostly jumpers. Niall (McCullagh) said she travelled better today than she ever has done before. I thought coming here today that there would be more juice in the ground. She is very ground dependant and she needs some juice in the ground. A mile is her trip.
First win for McTaggart on his eighteenth start
Sky Pilot takes the last for Morgan & Smullen
I always thought he would be a good horse. He finished third on his first start in a good bumper at Listowel. He has had niggly problems. He likes a real test of stamina and a good gallop. I think there is a race for him in Pontefract over two mile, two furlongs. He wants good or fast ground.
