Basil's Boy a first for Cusack at Downpatrick
First winner at Downpatrick to be honest. This horse just took a bit of time to come to himself. He wasn't a great eater and he was a bit weak in himself. Even though he schooled well at home, he fell first-time out. His mind just wasn't in the right place. It took us a few runs and Denis (O'Regan) did a great job educating him. He ran a nice race in Listowel last week But missed the third last and lost his place. He finished off his race and I felt he came on from it. He was fourth in a bumper here and I had to try and get him into the money and get a win with him. It worked out well. It wasn't a great race but it is nice to see him coming forward. I had him in good nick and Denis gave him a lovely ride, it's great to get a winner.
Demi gets it right on second start over fences
Bryan gave her a great ride and she loves jumping. She's bred for different things but it is nice to get a winner. She had every chance the last day but you wouldn't know if she would have won. It was for horses rated 109 (today) and she's rated 108 so that's her kind of bracket. She likes jumping fences. We'll keep her going during the summer and find something similar.
Mindsmadeup a winning spare for Flanagan
He wouldn't show you a whole lot at home and I didn't know what to expect but he had great placed form with James Sheehan. I'm delighted with him. We'll keep him going over the summer - he has form over a variety of trips, over two miles and further. Sean (Flanagan) said he loved the ground. Based on that yes I would (be looking at a good pot over the summer). I'm still learning about him. When he came first he was a bit keen and free and that but he settled well there for Sean. He gave him a lovely spin around.

Jakoby stays on best under O'Sullivan for Meade
I wouldn't usually keep running a horse in blinkers in bumpers. He's a very, very well-bred horse - I think the dam is a half-sister to the winner of the French Derby. He just hasn't been that fussed about the racing game. In fairness to him, he has been getting better and better and he stays really well. He wants three miles. He has got a little bit more generous with racing. It's great that Maxine came up the whole way from Gort to ride him. A good gallop was a big help as well. Stamina seems to be his forte. He stays well and she had seen him run a few times and she knew that was what he would do. He will go hurdling now, I'd say he will go on any ground.
