Mullins closes in on century record
he (Abbyssial) is a real big chasing type more so than a Triumph Hurdle type of horse. As we get into the wetter winter, it will all be to his advantage as he'll appreciate the much softer conditions and a longer trip. I was very pleased with his jumping and he had a previous run over hurdles in France and the experience was an advantage to him.
Champion Willie 'makes mine a 99'!
he (Upazo) disappointed last year but now has got his act together. We'll probably stick to that minimum trip with him and while he was in the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot next week, I doubt he'll go for it as it'll would come too soon.
Seventh win for Luke's Benefit
he is rising 12 but is still full of enthusiasm. He has settled down a lot and when he came to us as a nine year old, he had low mileage. That's his grade and he is now back on a winning mark. He ran a nice race last Sunday Brian (Cawley) gave him a perfect ride. There's a chase on New Year's Eve at Punchestown that he has won for the past two years and will more than likely go there next.
Townend completes Fairyhouse treble
that's her second win here and it was lovely to see the drop of rain as it was no harm for her. She did it well and has got a big stronger since last year. We'll look for something similar and while she'll get a few pounds for this, hopefully it won't be too much! I'd love to get some black-type with her in a Graded handicap hurdle but it's hard to find those type of races.
'Very lucky' Mullins registers fastest '100'
I've good clients and they're a fantastic pleasure to train for; I know I'm very lucky and I have to take my hat off to the team at home who are behind everything. I was very pleased with him (Mozoltov, running for the first time for owners Gigginstown House Stud) and was delighted we were able to retain him when he went up for sale. His form was good all the way through over hurdles and, today, looked a good solid jumper and learned as he went along. We wouldn't be afraid to go up in class with him and he can go up in trip and I think he'll handle any ground.
My Murphy gains maiden chase win
he was very unlucky last year; he fell at Navan when I fancied him for a novice handicap and a horse galloped on his head. At Punchestown then a horse collided with him at the first and his race was over. At Gowran he was a bit careful early on but still ran a good race and had his ideal conditions today; it wasn't too soft but soft enough to slow down the others. He doesn't do things quickly but stays and is tough and longterm Robbie (Power) thinks we should gear him at the Irish National.
Meade & Carberry claim Fairyhouse bumper
we were a bit disappointed with him the last day and thought maybe he didn't get the 2m2f. He's a horse we like a lot, is a beautiful horse and I'd say he'll make a jumper. We'll go jumping now and he'll be a chaser in time.
