I could feel the horse was with confidence and he pricked his ears going down to the last. He absolutely hacked up. He winged the fence and it was ideal. He would have bolted in at Ascot the other day if he hadn't fallen as he was doing a half-speed. He is just a progressive horse that is fresh. The ground was a big worry, but he is getting stronger. He was a progressive horse in the autumn before he had a near fatal injury. He was a millimetre away from having a fatal injury. He got over that and then we had to wait. We've only minded him because of the ground. We were thinking of going for the Grand Annual but the ground went soft, then today was the plan.

I'm delighted. You dream, but I wasn't expecting that. You have to stay, but we just didn't know if he would or not. It was Sean's plan as he said he would love to go three miles. We said we would leave it to him how he wanted to ride him and fair play to Sean. We came here for the two-and-a-half (Aintree Hurdle) last year and we rode him positively and he was disappointing on the day. The way he ran in the Champion Hurdle, he stopped at halfway and ran on really well again at the end. We hoped the big step up would suit and it's fantastic. We will enjoy today, but we've always felt he is a good horse as he won the Fighting Fifth. He lost his form over fences but it is great to have him back and we will enjoy today. We've got him in the Stayers' Hurdle at Punchestown but we will see about that.

Tiger Roll wins as Irish dominate National

This one is for Pat Smullen. I was speaking to him the other morning and he's as tough as nails. I really don't know what to say. It's unbelievable. Tiger Roll is a yard favourite. It's great for the yard, for Gigginstown (House Stud, owners), for everyone.
