Cracking Man scores on his hurdling debut
I made the biggest mistake running him in Down Royal last year after he won his bumper at Wetherby. I shouldn't have run him twice as a four-year-old and he went wrong after that race. Robbie (Colgan) got down off of him and said he has lost speed but gained stamina.
Time To Work over turns the 'jolly'
He will go for a handicap at Galway next. Davy Russell was full of praise for the Downpatrick ground staff and he said: .The ground staff have to be complimented today. What a job they have done. You'd imagine it would be difficult to water here but they got it spot on and its beautiful ground. Additional reporting by Michael Graham
Jabus springs a 16/1 surprise
That horse showed a bit of form in a bumper last year but since then we've not been able to place him properly. He never raised a gallop at Wexford but he likes it here. We decided to be positive with him today and I thought Mark gave him a super ride. His owner, Patrick McElroy, is a local man from Ballyward, Co Down. Additional reporting by Michael Graham
Colgan brings up double on The Finger Post
He'll have a couple of weeks off now and then go for a good novices hurdle.
Condon hits the front, as Silver takes Gold
Davy Condon tells me he is now one ahead of Ruby in the jockeys race (leading NH jockey standings). This horse is entered in the Doncaster Sales in August and we will see whether he goes there. He is a horse that would suit America as he loves fast ground and he jumps well.He was entitled to win today.
