Brooklynn Glory lands the odds in Foxrock
Paul (Townend) seemed to get first run turning for home after looking to be off the bridle. She settled well today, which was a pleasant surprise, and if she settles like that in future we could probably go up in trip with her as well but she has plenty of speed. She was a little green in front but is learning and she'll improve, I think. I was happy to see her winning on that type of ground, it was soft both times she won last year. She looked like a good ground filly and maybe she's only coming to herself now. I wouldn't be stopping with her if she's able to handle better ground during the summer. We'll aim for Fairyhouse or Punchestown and if I can find a nice hurdle in the meantime we'll do that too.
Prevaricate eludes the field
He's been promising that for a long time at home and he's probably been disappointing if I'm being honest,. He's got his head in front now and it might just bring him forward. Jack said he liked the ground and when the horse came to him he picked up again. We'll stay going with him and he might even jump a fence during the summer.
Mullins doubles up with Glengouly
It was a great ride from Jack, he got him settled. He was a little free going over the first couple of hurdles but he settled him going down the back and produced him nicely. I was particularly pleased that he was able to win over two miles, I thought the trip might be a bit short for him. It was nice to see him winning that over a shorter trip and on nicer ground as well. He'll be prepared now for the final in Punchestown. I loved the way he jumped, he jumped like a chaser. He was really big and bold.
Golden Spear darts through to win a thriller
What a little horse, 11-year-old, he deserves that. It's a few years since he won at Down Royal but he's always been consistent and running well. The handicapper had to give him a chance and fair play he did. He was the right side of the heads which was great. He's been around a long time, running in good races, and age and everything caught up with him. Liam was excellent on him. Just getting stopped after the last probably helped him as he had that little surge to give. He's such an honest little fella and you love to see them getting their day in the sun.
Walsh savours first success aboard Bronson In Blue
I'm delighted. I bought him back in the autumn, he was in a field at the time. I knew the horse quite well and had always followed him. I got a good bunch of lads into him. He's not a very big horse but he has a big heart. He has plenty of scope and stays, you could see there all he does is stay. He got a lovely ride from Cian, it's his first winner and he works in the yard for me. He took his time and was very patient on him. He probably likes coming wide as he'd probably get intimidated among horses. He's scopey enough and he'll jump a fence, they'll have plenty of fun with him. He was second in this race last year and even though he was 10lb higher this time he's after going and doing it.
Mt Leinster seals Mullins' treble in Leopardstown
They went some gallop. Paul (Townend) thought the run in the handicap the last day gave him huge experience coming back there going at that speed in a beginners' chase. He was very happy with him and he learned an awful lot,. We'll try and find a race in Fairyhouse or Punchestown or another nice novice race somewhere along the line, in about a month's time. I'd imagine that took a fair bit out of him given the pace they went. There was nothing easy about it.
Super Citizen shows his wellbeing for Cheltenham
He loves this place and the race suited him, it obviously suited him last year and suited him this year. He's entered in the cross country race at Cheltenham and if he's alright, and if It Came To Pass is going, he'll go. If he's alright next week he'll travel, he doesn't have to do much now. He's been around there and loved it, and loves the good ground. He's just a lovely horse to have. Mikey said he had plenty of horse left but he frightened the life out of me!. He's not a horse that usually pulls out a lot and I'd rather have seen him two lengths clear at the last. He's honest, jumps well and stays.
Rath Gaul Boy final leg of Mullins' four-timer
A nice performance. By Well Chosen out of a Presenting mare, I didn't think he would have that much speed but every time I work him at home he pops his head up on the gallops. Buying him out of a point-to-point I didn't think we would be coming to Leopardstown with him but he just keeps improving. He has more speed than he is bred for. I'm very happy with him. I might try a winners' bumper but I imagine he'll go jumping next season. He's a fantastic jumper so he will start off novice hurdling and probably novice chasing the following year.
