Brutal gets the job done on hurdles debut
It wasn't the strongest race in the world but he did what he did and will improve from it and will have to improve going forward. I think he's a nice horse and had a good (flat) rating. I'd have to say a big thanks to Qatar Racing and Sheikh Fahad for sending him to me and it's my first runner in those colours, and I'm not sure if he's had a jumper run in those colours either. Fair play to them and Ger Lyons (previous trainer) recommended that he'd go three year old hurdling to help change his mind a little and a thanks has to go to him as well. He jumped great but Davy said he was a little bit green and he'll come on from it; if fairness Keith Donoghue has done a lot of work schooling him at home. Like a lot of those juveniles after their first run, they will go up or down or stay where they are and we've often had horses that were rated 60 and end up being better than the 100 horses, so it's how they take to it the next day is how you know.

Line Out makes winning handicap debut
he was a little bit slow over a few of them but will learn in time. It was a nice performance and I think he will need further so we’ll try and look for longer races with him next. He will make a smashing chaser and while he’s winning we’ll stay hurdling and find another handicap and then see where we are.

Larkin back on the mark with Slievenamon
She has been operating in good company lately and probably deserved that. She needed a bit of better ground and we had been running her out of her ground all along; on good ground she is twice the filly. It's my first winner for years but hopefully it's the first of many now! . I recently retired from the army where I was commandant and I'm full time at training now. I've three horses in training but hopefully I can get a few more and build on this. This is the only one running at the moment but it's a good start.
Carlito finds his Way as Ruby doubles up
he (Carlitos Bay) makes a bit of a liar of you every day you go racing with him! . I’m delighted to be honest as after he ran the last time, I told the owners we’d never run him over hurdles again. He has disappointed so many times, but even since his last run (July 14), he worked well at home twice and I said we’ll chance him once more over hurdles and it worked out. Getting Ruby was a big help as well as he codded him along. He doesn’t find a lot off the bridle but first-time in blinkers also helped and it all clicked together today. His last two bits of work have been very good and he has had a few wind issues and lost his confidence a bit. Fingers crossed he goes on and we’ll probably see what the handicapper does but we could go on over fences now. I’m delighted to get a winner for the syndicate and I remember those colours for many years when they had horses with Dessie Hughes.
