The Pounds upstages his better fancied rivals
He had nine runs in bumpers and was only out of the first three twice, and he was beaten by a head here in one of those races. I'd say their wasn't many praying for rain last night but I was as he loves this ground. We will try and find a winners of one for him now. John Byrne is his owner and it is a pity they don't make more owners like him.
Toner gets Cooper off the mark
I thought he might need it a bit but he has been a good servant and it was nice to get Bryan off to a good start. He will come back here for a conditions chase in a few weeks' time.
Lalor records first track win aboard Kariega
That is the young lad's first winner and he is twenty-one. He had a big smile on his face passing the post and I am delighted to give him his first track winner. He won a point-to-point on her as well.
Urano gets it right on seventh try over hurdles
That is the seventh time of asking but obviously the trainer was getting it wrong all the time as he now appears to want a trip. We had been making the running with him over two miles but dropping him in over a further trip seems to be the key to him. He works like a two mile horse at home but he looked good at that trip today and we now know he stays. We were hoping he would do that after his run the last day when we thought that if he got daylight he would have shot clear.
Sterling unseats as Bothar battles gamely
It took him a bit of time to get him back right but he won four point-to-points so you would expect him to win an 80-102.
Luddsdenene wins eased down for Rothwell
All the credit for this goes to my brother Ronan, it was totally down to him, as he got the horse back to form. He was a very good horse two years ago but he then lost his way. He had a couple of wind operations but then I was giving up on him. Ronan kept the faith in him and sent him for another wind op but I still wasn't sure he was back to himself. The last time was the first day he had a tongue tie on and we had it on him again today. He is probably better going left handed and we will try and find another handicap hurdle or beginners chase for him. I've had a bad day so far. My horse in the previous race, Udo's Choice, was withdrawn as I forgot to put the cheekpieces on him.
Another winner for 'Lucky' Supremes
It has been a very lucky syndicate and she will go juimping now probably in the staying division, and she is improving nicely all the time. She has got a lovely pedigree and she is one to look forward to get to the paddocks at some stage.
