Elliott and Kennedy win Downpatrick's opener
all the conditions suited him and the race was right. He has promised more than what he has showed but he's a gorgeous horse and he has won and that's great. I'd say he will go chasing and might go for those rated chases. He's owned by a good man, Liam Clancy, who has had horses with us a long time and is a big supporter of horse racing, so I'm delighted for him.
Greenandwhitearmy bags a northern win
he's a quirky sort but we were hoping he would get in the money. I thought the other horse (runner-up Mr Moondance) had got away from him but he battled well up the hill. He's actually better over 2m5f and we'll keep him going and he could come back here for the next meeting.
Finding Joy gains second win this month for touring Hourigan
I haven't been here for a good few years now. I saw the race and I said 'gees I'll have to go to Downpatrick and I'm driving the lorry myself'. I felt I had to come and when I saw the entries I really had to come and when I saw the weights I had to go now anyway and it's great to come and win. I was leading trainer here for monkeys years. I used to love coming here and I was coming here to win 60 quid; Frankie Fitzsimmons said 'youself and Christy Kinane kept this place going for years'. It would be a long trip home if you didn't win. I came up here one day and one refused to start and I had to go all the way home again, I only had one runner. She will probably go to Listowel for something similar. The way she jumps she will jump a fence. She will win one over fences and she will win over hurdles again. If she improves from five to six, next summer could be very good. I always thought she would win a bumper and she didn't win the one day I really fancied her in Wexford - the ground was patchy and she didn't handle it. I always felt she wanted a three-mile bumper!
Jockey O'Keeffe notches 30 wins for season
he was a horse that had a lot of troubles all his life. I didn't think he travelled well the last day in Sligo but then it was soft ground and I put it down to that, or maybe he is getting a bit cute. It was probably a moderate enough race and and hopefully he will improve another little bit and he might jump a fence later on. We said we'd come here and see how he goes in a maiden hurdle. He's handicapped but he's on the high side. It was a handicap he ran in in Sligo so I said maybe 2m5f might suit him better in a maiden hurdle.
The Red Menace makes winning chase debut
he lacks a gear. He took to jumping fences very well at home and we hoped that just might give him a little bit extra. He stays three miles really well and likes goodish ground. We'll kick on until the winter comes in I suppose. We'll see where we go. I'd say he will probably be a little bit better at this than he was over hurdles. He just lacked that gear.
O'Keeffe keeps winning as leading Conditional bags double
whatever it is up here just brings out the best in him. He jumped very quick and was lightning for a small horse. I thought at the weight he would run well, not as well as those who backed him, I don't know where that came from! He's just a real specialist for up here. He's great value (Darragh O'Keefe), his 5lbs claim is unreal. That's two rides two winners for me. He's a sharp sort of a lad and he used his head very well.
