Battle Of Benburb annexes Tramore gold
Runrized scoots home under Mullins
The better ground helped. He is a horse that probably likes a bit of room and he gains a bit of confidence from that. He had experience and I suppose off his rating and, with the better ground, we were hoping he would produce a performance like that. He is maybe a lad that could gain confidence from today and win a few nice little novice hurdles during the summer. With the new season I think he is a novice until December.
Sixteen a Sweet success for Dullea
Sisu completes double for Danny
He is owned by Hugh Laing who is an old friend of mine. Hugh has that horse and West Is Best with me and they have both won two races now. He has had a couple of runs over fences and I might go back over fences with him now, we'll see.
Port Rashid and Townend some partnership
That was mighty! He jumped like a stag for me and I kept getting breathers into him whenever I needed to. I got there way too soon. He was my first ever winner on the track at this meeting three years ago. Now he has provided me with my first track winner over fences and he has been a great horse for us. I'm after winning on him three times now and Paul (Townend) could never win on him! . Today was the plan with him. We actually thought he might need the run because he had been off the track for a bit. He really enjoyed himself today.
Blue Markie shines for Christie
The plan was to be very positive and David said to just keep the revs up. I'm delighted for his owners that he is after getting his head in front now and I think they will have a bit of fun with him for the summer. I think the nicer ground and the blinkers were a big help to him. He has loads of ability and has been working with all my good horses. The last day when he ran at Leopardstown he was looking all around him and not even concentrating, so I decided to throw on a set of blinkers and it has just changed him inside out. We will see what we get from the handicapper and go again. He is not a big horse so he will suit all the summer tracks because he can scoot around them.
Winged Leader seals Tramore double for Christie
The horses are in great form at the minute. They were probably a wee shade off over the winter time but now they are all really well and it showed today. He deserved it today. He has been enormously unlucky. People tend to forget that he is only seven. He was a bit like a young pup going out on the GAA pitch after playing brilliantly in the youth teams. Then he goes into the senior team and gets knocked about. For me this year has been his learning year and he will be an even better horse next year. He was very unlucky not to win in Thurles and the Tetratema probably came a wee bit too soon. The last day was a funny race because, even though it was two and a half miles, it turned out to be ten seconds slower than standard on that ground. It was a stop-start race and then a sprint at the finish and that is just not him. Today I said to Barry to just dictate it. I see him as a horse for some of the big races next year. We will see how he comes out of this. He might go to Stratford or he could go to Punchestown either. Punchestown is always very nice ground. He was second in Stratford as a novice and the horse who finished third that day was second in Topham last week.
