Chroussa justifies favouritism in the opener
Kevin said she handled the ground. It is virgin ground and not too bad. We will probably step her up now and look for some blacktype.
Touch landed with Hail Shower
She jumped out and did that last week (finished sixth over a mile at Galway last week) but she just didn't get home so I told Wayne to try and do the same today. I think she is a filly that you need to make up her mind for her. She is in the Goffs Horses In Training Sale next month and she'll come back here again on Friday. She is a hardy filly. The lads who own her (the Real Shower Partnership) are from Sallins and I'd say they will enjoy themselves down here.
Bolger & Manning double up with Fulminata
It is nice to get a win out of her and she has been knocking on the door for a while. Everything went to plan today and she handles soft ground very well.
Mekong maintains his unbeaten record
He is improving away with racing and he is a grand horse. I was happy to get the gap on the rail and he quickened up well when he got it.
Tropical scores under birthday boy Geraghty
I think she is a very good filly and Barry said it was her class that won it for her. She was going away at the line. I've had a few of the family, including Tropical Lake, and that is why I bought her in the first place.
Coat wins comfortably for Hughes & Cooper
He was very, very good today. He was running on the flat over the summer but this is his game. We thought he would run well but we didn't think he would do that. Dad will be watching in at home. He came home from Hospital on Sunday and he was out on the gallops this morning so he is ready to go again.
Toe The Line scores on her debut
Alan (winning owner Alan Lillington) was my idol as a rider and an event rider when he was in his prime. He was a brilliant horseman and he won the Champion Hurdle on Winning Fair (in 1963). It is the first horse I've had for him. I've always liked her but I lost a bit of confidence last week as she didn't work as well as she had before.
