Indian swoops from last to first
I was afraid as last year he ran into Jim's horse (Loch Garman) and he emptied out. For a Montjeu colt he has plenty of speed. They went a steady gallop and he quickened up well. Being dropped in last in a slowly run race you might think it's not the right place to be but he picked up easily. He might be a Dante (Dante Stakes, York May 16th) horse and the fellow who won here yesterday (Battle Of Marengo) might come back here.
Kerisa gets Oxx & McDonogh off the mark
Stronger provides McDonogh with quick double
He has been working ok and I was a bit worried about the ground. Declan rode him last year at Dundalk and he said he would go on an easier surface and he knows more than I do!.
Leah Claire records her eighth career success
She'll get an entry in the Opportunity race (the Martinstown Opportunity Series Final Handicap Hurdle next Wednesday) at Punchestown but she might have top weight. She will also get an entry in the two and a half mile race on the Saturday and that would give her an extra few days. She had to run hard there to win as the other horse kept picking up.
Head Waiter rolls back the years
He is a grand old horse. His owner is from outside Mallow and he is a bit sick at the moment so this will be a good tonic for him. He did it well and he likes it around here. He ran well here in the Paddy Power (beaten five lengths into seventh by Cross Appeal in the 2007 renewal) and he was second in a chase here last year. Claire has done a good job with him. He was a bit sick of the heavy ground all winter. He has had his problems but he seems to be over them now.
Four in-a-row for Stuccodor
He did it very well. He handled that ground well and he is a very fit horse so that helped. He only won by a nose at Gowran last week and he was flat to the boards there. The race just broke for him today and fitness on that ground was a big help. We will maybe for a hurdle race with him now in a few weeks time.
Morning With Ivan follows up on Gowran win
She gets the trip well and we might have to go up another little bit with her now.
