Ciandarragh makes it two from two
Konig Hall does it well in Ballinrobe
The ground was too firm for him at Galway and the softer the better for him. I thought he'd run well today and he'll make a chaser in time.
Mossy Island gets his first win in Ballinrobe
I'm delighted for the owners (Mrs Irene Appelbe from Ballinrobe and now living in Watergrasshill, Co Cork) who also bred him and have waited a while for this.
Black Label takes Ballinrobe's eventful feature
He was a bit disappointing at Galway but with the light weight we had to come here and have a whack at this pot. He can be a bit of a monkey and I haven't been easy on him in the past ten days. He has a lot of ability though and Jonathan Moore gave him a super ride and the good pace in the race suited him. It looks like he might have won anyway as the other one (Jesmond Lodge) was tying up. He might sneak into the bottom of the weights in the Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel next - I won it with Victram in 2004.
Winter Breeze blows them all away
In fairness to Niall Madden he's not getting all these fierce chances but gave a good assessment of the horse the last day at Killarney when he said he'd be better with more of a 'dig' (ground) and going the other way. He was entered at Mallow but the ground wasn't what he wanted. His syndicate (Bweeng, Co Cork based Saints & Sinners Syndicate) are very easy to train for and while they were disappointed, waited for today instead. He's a big awkward bugger and will run in plenty of those middle of the road races. He's out of a half-sister to Earthmover so will make a chaser long-term.
Blackandamber Vic sees her rivals off
She's a pure honest little filly and is only 15.2hh. She was staying on the last day and we decided to step her up in trip and Johnny gave her a serious ride and made plenty use of her.
The O'Briens have All The Answers
He ran a nice race at Galway the other day and we're delighted with that. We weren't sure about the ground but he won nicely and will go for a winners' bumper, possibly at Listowel next.
