Quirke makes successful return from injury
I thought he would win everyday he ran over hurdles. Even that win today is still disappointing for him. There is a group race at Naas on the Flat and that's the plan for him now. He needs soft ground on the level. We are just running him rather than having him doing nothing at home. There is no big plans for him over hurdles. I'm not saying he won't run again over hurdles before Naas but there is no big plan. He is obviously not as good over hurdles. When we started him over hurdles we were thinking bigger than this. When he got beaten at Thurles we gave up on hurdles for a while. He runs terrible at the Curragh, he is bet before he comes out of the stalls. The handicapper is surely not going to mark him high because he isn't running to a high mark. Unless he improves there is no big future for him over hurdles.
Quick double for Quirke at Wexford
We were hopeful today. She has been a bit unlucky on her last couple of runs. She ran well at Tipperary but just took some kind of false step after the last. She done well to stay standing after that and lost all momentum. She is a real consistent filly and I think she is probably good enough to win on the Flat too. She is a grand fun mare for the summer and can mix it between both codes. She likes nicer ground. . She will probably go back to Tramore now. There is a race on the Flat and a race over hurdles for her there and she'll go for one or the other.

McConnell strikes with half-brother to Champ
He is not quite as good as Champ but he has ability. His wind has been an issue for him and it's always been a little bit tricky with him. On nice ground he gets away with it. He has actually got quite a good bit of ability, he jumps very well and this is his trip. I'm delighted for his owners who have been very patient with him and they've let me do what I want with him, so they've been rewarded. I don't know what we will do with him but he should make a nice chaser and hopefully there is a bit more left in him. He wouldn't be a winter horse but he was very good, tough and genuine today. We'll keep him going until the ground goes.

Ma Bess a game winner of Wexford nightcap
She deserved it. She had a couple of very good runs and the last day she probably got trapped in behind. We made more use of her today and the ground helped her as well, the bit of cut in it.
